Tom's Turbo Garage A few notations, why did you not build new(larger) oil feed/water(Earl's/braided) lines? No new wastegate controller? Not that we couldn't see but, the polishing job after porting could have been more complete. And a more champhered radius at the wastegate valve will help flow, but you give a good basic lowdown for porting/port matching.

FANTASTIC VIDEOS extremely informative i cant believe i havent found your channel till now, i just had a few quiestions if you have a moment, why do you double click the torque wrench? is it just habbit or have you found that they can settle after being backed off or what? ive never seen anybody do that before, my other question is where did you get a proper factory service manual? ive found honda ones on the internet but ive never seen actual factory printings i though only the dealers got those, aside from ones for like a dirt bike, can you buy those from mitsubishi for a price that isnt insane? thanks again and keep up the videos theyre fantastic

you made me a believer in the turbo,i am taking on a similar approach as your GN but with the conquest tsi keeping as much of its original charm but with the flaws being smoothed out. it has some work to be done, never tried forced air cars before! You take the fear out of owning a turbo car wish me luck and a lot of patience to do the job right.

Tom's Turbo Garage Pay someone. That's what I had to start doing because the cost of the lawn crew is outweighed by the value of the time I get to spend on the videos. :D Of course, lawn care might be easier to fit in when you actually have a running project car. Not nit picking Tom, your vids and wrenching are awesome. One other minor thing I noticed, is the Pennzoil filter. I know, it is cheap and does the job, I get that. You spent a fair bit of coin on Mitsu OEM parts, and that is cool. I do that as well. I think I would use a factory oil filter. It gives that total OEM look when you pop the hood. Just a casual thought. Great job !

Sweeeeeeeeeeet. Also thanks for including that Loc-Tite Anti-Seize stick in the video. I've been looking for one of those for many years now. I used to use something like that all the time when I started out and they just disappeared from the shelves one day. I think the one I had was from Permatex or something I didn't remember 'cause by the time I got to the end of it the label was gone. Looked more like a big crayon almost (silver). Good to know someone still makes them!

You're welcome Tom. Yeah they're fantastic, if you can find them. I haven't seen them in stores in years and I don't know why. I ended up buying one of those little jars of it (gray w/brush in lid) which suck because it never lets me put as much as I need. It's either too much or not enough. Those sticks let you just give a quick rub to a bolt or something and it's perfect. And there's no having anti-seize compound everywhere! Damn gloop everywhere! ARGH!

Thanks man! It is a total coincidence, Thursday or Friday uploads have just been working out that way lately. I always love seeing a new Jafro video!

I cant wait to see it on the road. The new upgraded turbo looks stock under the hood. Nobody is going to see that coming!

Those hoses were a hard pull or two from leaving you stranded on the side of the road for sure. I know what those hoses look like aallll tooo well.

I agree Jesse, it's hard to convey on video but they were really weak and spongy.

One thing that seems odd, is the "old school" green coolant. I would have thought it would have been good to use newer orange or red coolant like you see in modern cars.

It's cheap and works well, I guess I don't have a better explanation beyond that.

That is all it needs to be and do. I wonder what the factory correct coolant is? Somewhere in the early to mid 90's Toyota went to the red / pink stuff.

Where did you get your book from that tells you the specs? What's it called?
@TomsTurboGarage
@TomsTurboGarage 10 жыл бұрын
It's the Factory Service Manual. They can be found in PDF version online. Check the DSM Forums, they have it posted on there. The printed books can be purchased online, most likely Ebay and such.

Great video! Makes want to go and work on my car right away... I have a couple of questions though... 1. In FP's website says that the 68HTA should be oil fed off the oil filter housing, did you leave yours from the head port? 2. I have read in some forums that now that 68HTA comes with a 8cm turbine housing it also comes with a TD06SL turbine wheel instead of the TD05H wheel... Is the TD06SL the one shown in this video? Thanks and keep the great videos coming!

Alejandro Orozco Thanks man, glad you enjoy the videos! 1. Yes, it should be oiled based on their instructions. 2. I can't say, just call FP and ask them instead of trying to infer it from forum posts and such. Good luck!
