It's amazing how just watching this with the 2 color rings makes this weave so much easier to understand. THANK YOU ❣️ 🤗 💙

They are fiddly. The splitting and joining sections do need some patience and carful manipulation. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Deb

Thanks Deb. When I first started doing chainmaille I saw these hearts on Pinterest. I figured out how to make them on my own. However I was excited to see you doing them in a tutorial. Mine turned out good, but your tutorial took it up a couple of notches. They are more stable/sturdy than mine were. Mine could kind of flip around, but those extra rings you put at the end would keep them from doing that. I’m anxious to try them again using your tutorial.
@AussieMaillers

They can still flip, especially if too much force is applied to them, but it does help to tighten it all up.

Odd thing...I felt all out of sorts like I was missing something. Then I realized it was friday and I hadn't gotten my tutorial fix! LOL Seriously thanks for this Deb. I have been wanting to try this weave again for a while but I made such a mess of it the first time I did that I just whimpered a bit and backed away. Now I feel more confident!

Thanks so much Deb for that. Always wanted to know how to make the branch of the heart. I'd love to know how to make a memorial ribbon 🎗. I get stuck with the ring size and also how to bring the HP together. Thanks Deb

Hi I'm new in a sense to this and learn pretty quick. But have you ever tried making arrowheads out of chainmaille like the outline of one or a symbol of one ? Not the dangle like ones.

Great tutorial, as are all of your tutorials, bar none! I am just curious about what to do with this piece? Would you put it on a chain as a pendant? It seems rather large.
@AussieMaillers
@AussieMaillers 3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I agree. You could use the 20G one if you like bigger pendants. The others I would use more for décor items I guess. Deb

My mandrels only go in increments of .5mm. 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5 and so on ...would 4.5 and 5.5 work fine with the 20 and 18g? I'm assuming they'll be less stiff
@AussieMaillers
@AussieMaillers 3 жыл бұрын
My only response really is try it and see. A lot can change the final size of a ring, the material, how tightly it was wrapped, the size of the blade...it can all change the final size and therefore how well that ring works. Just have fun with it. Deb

Would 18swg (1.2mm) 3/16 in.(5.0mm) ID 4.2 work?
@AussieMaillers
@AussieMaillers 3 жыл бұрын
Shelley, I didn't try that size, but based on how the 1.2mm x 1/4"ID works I would say no, it wouldn't work. HTH Deb

I know this is an old question, but I’m new to this, so chiming in after the fact. I just made one of the hearts with 18 SWG in 1/4” ID (it’s hard to get AWG in Canada, we have to order from the US and the exchange is insane) … the section at the split was a major challenge, but once past that, it was all good 😊

Can anyone tell me what the 20g ID is in inches or cm, the kits I buy has one of those and I never know those sizes compared to these, I'm so lost, is any of them 3/16, 5/32, 9/64, or 1/8?
@AussieMaillers
@AussieMaillers Жыл бұрын
The sizes are listed in the description for you. For the 0.8mm(20AWG) I used 4.25mmID.

does anyone know what size in swg these would be? is 16swg 5/16 okay for it?
@AussieMaillers
@AussieMaillers 7 ай бұрын
I did try several sizes in the readily available anodized sizes that come in Imperial sizing and the 5/16"ID came in a bit tight. I always recommend giving it a go yourself as ring ID's aren't always the same each and every time, especially anodized rings.

I bought the 16g 1/4” ID and they are so tight that I can’t get the ring through the four rings. There is no way to do it so I have waisted all the money I spent on the rings.

Did you buy AWG or SWG? We work in AWG, if you purchased rings in SWG then they wouldn't work.

@@AussieMaillers I purchased them from Ring Lord and I think they were AWG. Isn’t that the American ones. SWG I thought were UK ones.
