My brother and I started doing this yesterday, we want to grow an avocado tree because that's our mum's fav fruit 😅 Edit: 10/24/20 We have planted 2 avocado seedlings on the soil like months ago. Btw, we live in a country with tropical climate and Update for the plants: Both are growing well up to now 😊 Edit: 4/9/2021 The first avocado plant is growing well. For the other plant it died. Maybe because it was planted right next to our big soursop fruit tree. Edit: 7/26/2021 The first avocado plant that we planted is still healthy and it has a lot of leaves. My brother and I also planted another 2 avocado seedlings on the soil recently 😊 Edit: April 14, 2022 Hello! The first plant we ever planted grew about 16 inches. I guess the roots are very long now. We planted 2 seedlings as you can read from the last update. The other plant died while the other has leaves with holes. We transfered it back to a transparent pot and soaked it in water because we planted it to an area where it does not receive enough sunlight and now we do not know where to plant it 😅. The roots are very very long like spaghetti noodles 😂. For now, we just enjoy harvesting from our soursop tree 😋

You probably won’t get any fruit from the avocado tree, & if you do it will take 8+ years, unless you graft it w/ other avocado trees. I think it’s time to face reality …

@@monikareadztoo4550 think about what kind of message that sends to young impressionable children… that there will be no rewards for their hard work & effort. Teaching them to grow avocado trees would be setting them up for failure & disappointment. Or subconsciously teaching them that settling for less is ok. No thanks. I’d rather have my son grow something he can be proud of, like an orange or mango tree 🥭🍊🌳

Hello I've been trying to grow a few avocados this year and have been loving it! I didn't have any success with this metho but that couldn't been because of a variety of reasons. I ended up experimenting with just putting the avocado stone, unpeeled, poking out of a pot of soil and keeping it watered in a warm potting shed, and it worked! It's now about 80 cm tall and has 13 massive leaves! Super proud. I really trust your videos because I've had so much success growing tomatoes and garlic from your videos so I'll try it again in spring. Thank you so much for such informative videos!

I thought to myself : ok Google reading my mind again. Wondering: did I talk to someone about it (bc advertising is often based on my conversations, no one believes me and I'm not paranoid but it's simply happening via microphones in our phones. For example, I spoke to a client about a small village which I never heard of and never talked or read about etc heard it for the first time ever. I hung up, ten min later advertisement on the radio (not on phone or laptop but digital radio as a separate device). The village was mentioned as a touristic location. Still it can be a coincidence but it happened to often. I don't mind but it's strange sometimes. Reading my thoughts is technically impossible 🙅

having grown an avocado tree from a seed, planted it in the ground and watched it grow to 50ft tall and 40ft wide over 12 yrs, I can share the following insights: ■ do it mostly if you're going to use it for a house plant for the following reasons= 1. seedling grown avocados may take up to 15 yrs or longer to produce fruit if it ever does (mine took 11 years!) Grafted trees produce in 2 to 3 yrs!!! 2. they're sexually reproduced so the tree you sprout will likely not make avocados that taste like the fruit it came from.... you could get lucky and they taste better or as good but they could likely be worse. SO A GRAFTED KNOWN VARIETY THAT YOU KNOW YOU LIKE WOULD BE A BETTER CHOICE. 3. A seedling sprouted tree will grow huge....mamouth huge, where as a grafted tree will grow to a more preferred size and be more productive.

I just wanted to say THANKS SO MUCH! I have lived a few places in the U.S. and currently reside in North Alabama. Twenty years and probably 100 seeds have yielded no results at all with avacados. I now have 3 tiny sprouts going in mason jars in my kitchen window after following the steps in your video. I am elated! I'll watch your transplanting video soon and hopefully I'll have awesome results there too. You are pleasant and cheerful and your love for what you do is contagious. Looking forward to more of your excellent information........

This is so fun! I had one grow to 5ft easily in the kitchen with in a few years. I don't have any now and of course, being in New England, ct usa, they will never fruit..But when I did, I wish I had known that the leaves are medicinal and can be made into a tea. I just recently learned that you can chop up the pits, dry and eat them like nuts, or sprinkled in foods or smoothies. I love all your tips! Thanks for making this awesome video! From my 20+ years exp. growing them as house plants, I've found the easiest way to propagate them is to stick them in the soil of another plant and then transplant them when they are a few inches tall. Success every time for me, and much less maintenance then the cups and does not pierce the seed.

@@jitterbug5180 Oh- it's like the best plant in my entire house right now. it's 36 inches tall- above the dirt- I'm not lying. All that growth in one year, during a freakin pandemic, indoors, and with dangerous cats about! It has ten leaves, the larger ones measuring about 8 inches long. I live in CT, and for this plant to make it through my winter is amazing. I've never had such success when starting something from seed. I'm so pleased with this plant!

Could still be too cool. 80-85F is ideal. Once the seed cracks all the way through, that shoot pops up rather fast.
