This example of cake mapping by Luma Bakery (now Luma Box) is achieved by 3d projection mapping a wedding cake. Projection mapping, or video mapping, is the technique of using software to warp video content to complex surfaces. This setup uses two projectors and Qlab and MadMapper software.

Do you have a tutorial on how to add the images to certain sides of the cake and have thm appear and disappear at different times? I would love to create something like that for my cake but unsure how to "assign" a placement for the photos in the overall video content stream to play continuously without me changing it.

Check out the last part of my MadMapper scenes and cues tutorial where I go into that a bit kzbin.info/www/bejne/qInIn6GthK2LjrM or my Resolume cake mapping series might give you some ideas too. Alternatively, you can design all your photo transitions into a video using simple video editing software and then map that video to the cake.

It's made in After Effects using a plugin called Trapcode Particular but you can do a similar thing using the "write on" technique (google some tutorials)
