Thank you for this, you really just changed my whole mindset at the end of the video. I’m having a depressing day, my family is supposed to go on a trip in 2 weeks and we just found out my sisters passport has expired. Passports in Canada are taking forever to renew right now and we probably won’t be able to go. I haven’t been on a trip in almost 3 years so I was super upset. I still remember when me and my male bestie literally cries our eyes out cause after 8 days of hunger , on a little boat that we stole from someone we don't know , on winter , without enough clothes to wear to heat us up , and a few times we need to hop off the boat and holding our breath under the water so that the patrols won't see us , and after we hop on the boat back we'll be freezing cold , he will always ask me if I'm cold and if I am , he will give me his clothes even he himself is cold , and told me to wear those . But we are unlucky enough when our boat is broken when we're about to reach china , but cause we didn't want to get caught , we swimmed for literally 2 days without break on fcking freezing winter . When we arrive there , there's a really kind nanny that take care of even knowing that we are NK escapees . She even told her son to make us passports so that we can go to SK . I'm so grateful for that granny . When we ask her how she can speak korean language with NK dialect and why she didn't tell anybody about us being escapees , it turns out she and her late husband were also NK escapees . After we managed to get to SK , her son have us everything we need cause we're still minors at that time (I was 10 and my bestie was 13 at the time we escape) . He would send us money every week , buy us food , pays for our school and house bill and sometimes will take his mom with him to visit us at SK . But 2 months ago the granny past away . We're super sad but when we read a letter that the granny wrote to us before she's gone , about how she knows her time is coming near , about how we should not be so sad that she's gone cause everyone's gonna go when their time come and how we should enjoy our lives after escaping from there with all those hardworks .
