The animation is so good because they had the fights choreographed and then acted out by a master martial artist. The animators also all started taking martial arts classes to understand the way the body moves. And each bending style is based on a specific real-world martial art. Waterbending is Tai Chi, Firebending is Northern Shaolin Kung Fu, Airbending is Baguazhang, and Earthbending is Hung Gar.

One of the fascinating things is how they do the philosophy of the tribes. As an Airbender Aang's fighting is much more evasive and focused on taking opponents or oneself out of the fight rather then winning. You can see the difference in how he chose to fight while escaping.

in one later episode you actually see Aang mimic a firebending move with air and it's kind of fun to see.

I might not sub... but I will watch every episode you bring out! Although the filter you use is a bit hard to see through. Maybe it .. but I think a different, maybe slightly colorshiftet filter owuld be great.

FUN FACT:Some may say that this show has drawn great inspiration among the top 3 anime that went on that time in the beginning of the between 90-2005, since the show began around that time. One Piece, Naruto and Dragon Ball. This was the show that brought an entire generation into anime. Although this is not anime, it is greatly inspired by both it and eastern culture.

I really appreciate that Zuko is already a skilled fighter. He's not some bratty kid, all in the talk. As he said, he spend years training to fight the avatar and his uncle seems to know his stuff. He mentioned last episode that his honor depends on the avatar capture. He's determined and a real threat to our three characters. Aang is the only one who can really fight, which is good to because he knows his stuff. He's the avatar but can't control all the elements yet, at least conscienly. Katara can only do a couple of waterbending stuff and Sokka is a regular guy with no powers. And yet, they still are kids and teenagers fighting in a war, who already had consequences. The airbender are believed to be extincts. Did they hide and let the world take that direction ? All the men in Katara's tribe are gone, fighting with with the earth kingdom. Would be very interesting if they develop that whole side of the wat, not just Aang's journey mastering all the elements. One interesting detail mentioned here too is Aang not having father, and probably no mother, because he was raised by monks. The airbender are nomad so maybe they developed a philosophy of no attachement, and yet relationship everywhere. It seems that before the war, Aang was free to go anywhere with Appa, since he was close to the south pole when he got frozen. It might start at a young age, he's only 12.

Idk if this is mentioned in the series but the arrow on aang indicates that indicates that he mastered airbending to my knowledge airbenders must master roughly 40 techniques to receive the arrow tatto
@Khajmer2 жыл бұрын
I don't believe it's expressly stated in the show until Korra actually, but it's implied at one point.
@KitsuQuinGamingTTV2 жыл бұрын
You have to master all 36 forms OR create a new airbending move; it's stated in the comics iirc that Aang had mastered all but one and then he invented the air scooter so he got his tattoos.

For some reason, no matter how ridiculous the show gets with the bending later on (And by ridiculous I mean awesome) This scene of Aang's first use of the Avatar State wielding water still gives me goosebumps.

I watched this with my kids when it aired, and it is our favorite show bar none, out of everything we've ever watched. And we've watched A LOT. So many lessons to be learned from this show. Oh, I forgot to mention...if you watch the credits, you will see Dave Filoni's name a LOT. He had a huge part in directing ATLA before moving on to Clone Wars. His influences are unmistakable.

No, bending is not like Naruto chakra, it's a completely natural ability, no different than mainstream superpowers like flight or superspeed; though it does require training to use effectively...

I'd say the weakest season in the franchise is LOK season 2, and even that is still a solid 7/10 because of the lore drop we get about the avatar cycle. And of course, season 3 of both series are the best (LOK season 3 has the best villain of the entire franchise and season 3 of ATLA gives the most satisfying conclusion to a series I've ever seen)

Katara was definitely in the wrong here. Well, I mean, she's right in context, but she was being SUPER selfish and put the lives of everyone in her village in danger just for her own selfishness and curiosity.
