It came out looking good, but I definitely would not go with that kit. The front needs new springs, not blocks (they look like leaf springs, but they are just blocks). The reason you need lift springs is because the Super Duty only has about 2" of up travel before hitting the bump stops, which this kit does not change. A real 4" lift springs will give you 6" of up travel, so you have real flex for off road as well as a better ride because you won't be constantly using the rubber bump stop as your helper spring. The second reason to avoid this kit is the track bar drop spacers. The stock bracket extends several inches in all directions, so the bracket uses leverage, doubling the effective strength of the bolts. The spacers concentrate the forces right near the spacers, losing the leverage advantage and increasing stress on the bolts. This is why real lift kits include a new track bar bracket that bolts to the front of the frame. This kit is nowhere near as useable or safe as even a Rough Country leveling kit, which doesn't cost much more. I don't know how this company got a liability signoff to sell this kit. If it used an add-a-leaf and a reinforced bracket it would have better stability, better articulation, better ride, and better durability. You get what you pay for.

Nice job. A clamp will keep the springs together when cutting the center pin with the "death wheel" Then you can ease the tension off once the pin is taken care of. Not as much fun though.

@ProjectTimeGarage
@ProjectTimeGarage 2 жыл бұрын
LOL, yeah let me clear it up a bit. The badges on the front of the fender are actually PowerstrokeV8 badges. They look just like the TritonV8 badges, but they actually say PowerstrokeV8. The early 99's received those fender badges and didn't get a door badge. In late 99 or so they added the black door badge. Some trucks got both the black door badge and the fender badge, others did not. Since this truck was early enough to not receive a door badge, someone found some 6.0 badges and slapped them on.

The guy that owned my f250 before me put the same shim pack on and my springs have completely collapsed and inverted. Are you getting any driveline vibrations at high speeds yet? I will be removing my shim pack soon and replacing with larger height leaf springs. Not trying to be a smart a$$ but I think you are about to experience the same thing I am.

This is actually my buddies truck, but I have a video on my 2000 F250 7.3 where I point out the same sagging springs. I had about a million people chime in and say that the factory springs were always completely flat, or just a bit de-arched. I had no idea, but I got to reasearching it a bit on the 7.3 forums and evidently that question had been asked A LOT, and the answer was basically the same. They still look flat to me, though.

For my definition of "off road", yes I would. In my world, off road generally means straight utility work; like using it for farm use, hills, snow, mud, etc. Would I rock crawl with it? I came up through the 80's. Everything had 38 or 40 inch tires with 15" wheels. I still have a 74 F100 with 35s and 15" Barts wheels. One thing is for sure is that drivability with the lower profile tires is about a million percent better. Shorter sidewalls makes it feel better in a curve - not like road racing, just normal back roads driving. Feels a lot less like it's about to skate off into the ditch.
