@ProjectUntethered11 ай бұрын
You should get an email with your ticket info! A lot of airlines also have phone apps you can download and check your info. Some budget airlines ask you to print your tickets, but it's usually not necessary if you have the email/app. At the check in counter, they'll be able to find your ticket by using your passport number (if you're traveling internationally). Third party booking sites like kiwi are absolutely atrocious to deal with. They will wait up to 2 days to actually book your flight while at the same time immediately taking your money. Then if the price goes up they will call you and ask for the difference. If you decline you have to wait 7-14 days for them to refund you and often times they make it so you can’t get the emails from the airline by using their own email address instead of yours.
@ProjectUntethered2 жыл бұрын
Woah that sounds horrible! We’ve never used kiwi before, and now we never will. Thanks for the tip!

@@ProjectUntethered they all operate that way kiwi isn’t the only trash travel agency. I recently missed a flight to Colombia because the agency had not purchased my flight when I showed up to the airport. The email I got said booking confirmed and everything but when I called they said that it was still being processed by their booking specialist…. Yea missed the flight and nearly missed the window to cancel the hotel booking and missed out on what I had hoped would be an amazing trip :(

@annejillianmonsanto85652 жыл бұрын
totally agree on Kiwi!!! I've only used it once and never will again. It was just too sketchy. -When I bought my ticket, I never got the airline confirmation code. It was only 1 day before my flight that I got my boarding pass and confirmation code from Kiwi!! Now this was just a flight from SFO to LAX, but had it been a bigger trip (like international) I can imagine it would be more stressful. -At one point, I called 3 days before my flight (well before the 48 hour timeline to cancel/rebook) to cancel my booking and get flight credit back. Called customer service and they wouldn't even give me flight credit back even though I was within the 48-hour cancellation policy. -Customer service is trash. Not professional and helpful. It sounded like I was calling the next door neighbor while they were cooking. I swear. -Not necessarily related to Kiwi, but more of an annoyance with booking 3rd party: if you want to add your TSA precheck #, you have to call the airline to add it. Just an unnecessary extra step.
@jc137812 жыл бұрын
@@annejillianmonsanto8565 when i got the confirmation email saying the booking was confirmed, i started to look for the airline confirmation code as i have always gotten previously anytime i book a flight... the next day i called because i knew something was wrong... sure enough they hadn't even booked the flight yet... it is bad enough putting up with all the shitty games that the airlines play these days, but now the travel companies are getting in on it as well... i wish google would hold them to some sort of standard to be listed on google flights

I usually buy tickets from these 3rd party sites that momondo recommends. If I need to cancel or change dates, I usually just get my booking number that I received from the 3rd party site and go directly to the airline and get them to change the dates. That way I avoid the hassle of contacting the 3rd party site, get a nice price on my ticket and get the service that the airline offers.
@ProjectUntethered2 жыл бұрын

It doesn't quite work in the way as you described. You haven't mentioned one important thing. Some airlines/3rd part websites show you lower price on the page, but once you selected the flight, then for example there is no option with free luggage option(even if you don't have any bags at all), and google flights usually handles those cases and shows you the actual price that you can pay.

Fantastic information, Great tips. I've been to the Philippines twice both times for a month. I'm thinking of going for 3 or 4 months. Do you think it's better to look for a round trip ticket with ability to change date. Or just a one way ticket? I can save about $400 with a round trip.
@ProjectUntethered2 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question. I think it all depends on the flexibility that you need. If you don’t mind a strict return date, then round trip would work. But if you prefer to go with the flow (which is what we generally do), then the extra $400 for one ways might be worth it. I wonder if it’d also be possible to book a round trip with the ability to alter your return date. I’ve never done this before, but if you find that it’s possible, maybe the change fee and price difference would be less than $400 - although if it’s a last minute change, it could end up being more.
@ProjectUntethered2 жыл бұрын
Now that I think about it, I think we’ve actually done this before (changed the return date). But that was during the middle of the pandemic, so things may have been more flexible back then.

My biggest bug bear is a lot of web sights dont do non-stop long haul (which is more generally affordable yet more expensive).Fly from Australia and 15 hours flying way better than a one or two stop 24 hr. + head *uck where you just waste money time sitting around achieving nothing,lost/delayed luggage and general unwarranted expenses/hassles and cons.

I’m totally with you there. I much prefer one long haul over several shorter flights (especially if you have good movies 😎). It doesn’t work to sort by direct flights?

@@ProjectUntethered Thanks for your reply.Long haul direct gets buried by price (especially by airline sites). Can’t even tick direct flight box (a lot of the time) to lessen the multi stop stop over plans, even if you know thats there is a once or twice a week direct flight. Personally I reckon there are kickbacks to the airlines by the hotel chains and Airbnb collusion ,as the more stopovers the better as far as their concerned.

Wow, that is super annoying! If you find a good trick to easily uncover all direct flight options when searching, let us know!
