If foams weren't a chore to change over I would suggest trying the Proline single stage closed cell to get that climb it wouldn't hook on... the blue foam is a little larger than what the dual stage inner is,.but as there is no outer foam it leaves that air, or clearance gap for the tyre tread ripple and conform. I have them in my heavy Trx4 defender with g8 Flat Irons and they work great. I use the Dual stage P/L's in my lighter trucks. It was good to see you the test process once again.. As always thanks for the effort you put in for us Joe.. Cheers mate 👍

I've done what you said before, a bit differently. I had Ottsix KLRs stretched onto 2.2 wheels, the stretch along with just the inner foams of the CI 4.75 foams worked well and had that gap you mentioned. It worked out well.

It all depends on what you are wanting to do.... I built an axial super lite and ran 2 stage CI/ soft outer in the rear and soft single stage in the front. It climbs like a dream. It's all in what your wanting the truck to do...to many variables. Great video joe, you put alot of time into this and its appreciated my friend.

So very good video. I just want to say that I have these tires owned them for almost as long as they've been out. I have the G8 compound and the tires are broken in very well. I have the stock foams in them as well. Ive noticed that when I first had them they weren't to good, but once broken in they hook up like glue on everything. I WAS going to get the proline foams being my jk weighs about 12 to 13 pounds but it's more of a trial truck and doesn't always see big obstacles like you have and I think that's what these tires were more designed for "trailing". I forgot to mention my from beadlocks have weight in them as well so yes I do have tire roll BUT what 1:1 doesn't haha. Great video!

I might be mistaken... I think the proline dual stages are designed to fit their "XL" tires and are a bit big for standard 1.9s. I use them in a set of 1.9 flat iron XLs and love them.
@ExocagedRC4 жыл бұрын
yeah they could be. In the past, dealing with the Predator and other super soft compounds I've seen the smaller foams just not perform very well at all, if this were a much lighter truck, these would most likely just be way way too stiff but I have my hopes up

If these aren't what you're looking for i would suggest Crawler Innovations dual stage. They offer a taller outer open cell and shorter inner closed cell, may allow for just enough tire curl while still keeping the sidewall from rolling too much.

Surely using the Treal wheels it will alter how the foam works as it has pushed the centre ridge up thus changing how it works in the tyre. The only way you will know is to put the foams on a wheel that does not push up the centre of the closed cell foam.

I find or think that the 1.9 dual stage foams are to big for 4.75 tires. I think inside the 4.75 tires the outer foam is already slightly compressed only leaving approximately a 1/4" if that to be compressed while driving not allowing the tire to really conform to the terrain. I was about to throw them away but find them to work rather well in my jconcepts 4.92" tires. The slightly larger tires gives the outer foam the capability to full expand inside the tire while allowing the foam to conform enough over obstacles so that the tire can properly grab. Just my two cents would love to see you try that out on the SCX10 3 since it works great on my SCX10 II.

I have these in my trx6 with deep woods and ottsix dual stage foams in my Capra with duratrax showdown. The ottsix outter foam wraps around the inner which bolsters the sidewall. The Pro-Line doesn’t. The Pro-Line also moves around more on my beadlocks than the ottsix setup. Both work great and I have way more time on the Pro-Line, but I’m going to stick with ottsix going forward. Much better imho.

My "Killer Wasp TRX4" felt really heavy. I was thinking 12 pounds..I mean...it has everything...remote lights, winch, drop-bed, interior, brass stuff(painted black)with all the D110 option. I weighed it...it was 9 pounds. I was surprised. Anyway...foams...I love Pro-line. Been using their stuff from the beginning. I even have some of their single stage foams. But I'll put most my money in foams to Crawler Innovation. They are the "originals" and everyone else is a "copy" and just trying to take a chunk out of the pie they did not create. I'll always buy body's and tires from Pro-line....I mean...I'm good friends with Paul from Pro-line an have been a "loyal" since 1989 but again.... loyalty has to have its place and the owner of CI put his heart into his single great product.

First give the foams a chance to break in, run the crap outta the 10.3 lol then try removing some wight from the rear or if possible adjusting that "squat" in the rear out. I noticed it when you first showed what the new set up looked like. Squatting like that when angled as you was in the hard climb at 10:45 makes the rear "dig" more...if you know what I mean. I think that's your biggest issue imho. You almost make me wanna try mounting my xspeed wheels agian lol but the only GOOD tires I have are my deepwoods and they are glued on plastic wheels. In theory I know they can be removed but if I screw up one more RC part I fear I may punt my rig into the cow pasture across the street lol
