ProLine Pro MT 4x4 Full Review & My Thoughts

Review time again everyone. This is the full review & my thoughts on the ProLine Pro MT 4x4. I do have a lot to say about this little beast. The ProLine Pro MT 4x4 is not perfect but did hold it's own in my testing. I go over this truck and tell you what I think and what it was like for me to bash it hard. Again, I think you are spot on, Gary. It's a great truck, but I personally can't help but feeling a little disappointed in what is essentially a flawed platform. Like you said, kitted out to run 6S its more expensive than an Outcast. It's a tough call for sure.

Yup...the price is a tad high. Overall, the only thing I didn’t like was the C block bending. It was easy to beef that area up. However, for $400 bucks, we should not have to. At least it was simple to find a cure. With minor mods, the truck is fun and very durable. It’s a great platform that doesn’t really need too much to make better. For the price....it should have been tested better. Proline came up a little short. Great review....spot on as always.

awesome review once again and I too have had the same problems with the hinge pin plate, proline really need too look at this for the money that you are paying for a roller but all in all I have had a huge amount of fun with this truck and for the fun factor the price is justifiable.

I ran mine today...it took a serious beating and held together fine. It is insanely fun to drive. I can’t say I’m not impressed. I did spend lots of time rebuilding this rig before I used it. I took my time to set it up nice. It has paid off. My last run was one of my best and this little rig did awesome.

Right on brotha. I was on the fence between this or the Outcast 4S. Your video just solidified my decision to stick with my original plan on getting the Outcast. I will eventually pick up one someday. The price has gone down to $299. (Ya I know this is a 2 year old vid.)

I just went on Matt Wallace ProMT Facebook group and he is having a contest and sending out 3 prototype servo arms to the top 3 videos for people to test for them. You should do it. The group is call "Proline ProMT 4x4 owners". ✌️

The reason that white spacer in the wheel hub melts is due to the screw that holds the pillow ball unthreaded. All you need to do is but a dab of tire glue in the hub screw and you shouldn't have that issue. That is straight for one of the Proline engineers. He set up a Facebook page "Proline ProMT owners" They have upgraded servo savers now too. It's a great truck with a few flaws. Most new rc models have some issues with the first version. It's a blast to bash that thing!

Proline also has a aluminum servo saver on the way, and I have yet to break one but, Matt Wallace from proline sent me the upgraded plastic part for free anyway, steel spur coming too!!!! I love mine😃

Nice review brother!!! Appreciate the shout out, too👊. I'm glad Tower honored my 60$ coupon and I had spare electronics. This was my "budget" build while I kept contemplating about the V3 Talion 😱. You're right this truck doesn't necessarily make $$$ sense for everyone. The suspension mounts are a weak spot no doubt. I'm honestly not surprised there were some hiccups with this new release. However, I'm glad you're keeping this little ripper though😨. It's MAD fun on 4s and I'm hoping we can get another dual PLMT bash in sometime. 😱😨😨😨😵🤘🤘😎💪👊👊

Yo! I watched your vids on this truck and it convinced me to order it for it's durability. Should be here Friday. What wheel spacer are you using? 8mm shims or something thicker? I bash pretty hard, not quite going to send it like you, but what else should I do before I start ripping this truck around?

Chris Pham not sure if the question was for me or Gary. I highly recommend running Team Associated RC8T hex extenders, #89330. Just have to drill out the axel pin holes with 1/8" drill bit. Make sure to check your fasteners and diff levels, too. My center diff was almost dry and the front/rear had a smidge of grease.😎💪👊👊

Seems like everyone is ranting about the price of the truck. Do you guys realize that Pro-Line is a 100% US based company that produces their stuff in the US? So they are paying US paychecks, not Chinese or Korean... I went to their Monster-Truck-A-Palooza in 2017 and bought the very first production unit of the Pro MT 4x4 and I absolutely love it. Yes, the C block is a pain when it bends, but it is fairly easy to bend it back and make it stronger. I am not a fanboy, but to me it is one of the best rigs out there. Nice review though and I respect everyone's true opinion about things.

It's now $300 at Tower and I'm thinking of getting it for my first kit/build, but I rarely run 3s I mainly stick with 2s. I have the Arrma Granite 4x4 BLX and it's fast enough for me on 2s. So if I want to stay with that kind of power what Motor & Esc would you reccomend?

You said you are running the truck with a 100A ESC and the Castle 1512 2650KV motor. The latter has a maximum listed current of 120A. How does that work together? Did you not get any heat problems with the ESC or shutdowns?

Just bought one of these trucks and found your video. great video BTW. Interesting thoughts on the truck. I havent run mine enough to find any major flaws just yet other than the thumb screws for the body mounting are taking a serious beating. But in regards to price I think there needs to be more said to understand the price. First, this is a 1/10 truck. Some people (myself for example) only want a 1/10 truck. These days the prices of all 1/10 4X4s are creaping up into 1/8 territory but, if a 1/10 is what you do want... this truck is actually a very good deal. I bought mine from Tower and got $60 off... plus it was during their bonus bucks deal so i ended up with a $36 store credit I used toward a servo I was going to have to buy anyway. At the end of the day, I was just a hair over $300 for the truck. And to me, thats a great deal when you consider a Stampede 4X4 will run you about $400 after discounts and is no where near the quality of this truck (and I am a traxxas fanboy... unashamed) with lower quality wheels and tires, lower quality shocks, lower quality body etc etc. I think to understand the price, it needs to be compared to other 1/10 4X4s. I dont disagree that its expensive... but it seems to me they all are these days... if you want a quality truck. Im sad to hear about the rear hinge pin brace at the back. Havent bent mine yet... but im sure it will happen at some point. Ill pick up a few spares just to have. I went with a Castle Monster X ESC with an older HPI Flux Torq (Castle 2000kv) 1/8th motor and a cheaper metal gear, digital servo. I run it on 3 and 4S and its perfect in terms of speed... I dont have alot of space to run so 4S is pretty over the top for me. Still, I liked your video, agreed with your points for the most part. I just think when talking about price/value it shoudl be compared to other similar vehicles so its a even comparo VS comparing it to vehicles that arent the same. Just my 2C. Keep up the good work.

You can do it, and any rc is easy to add electronics. Just think of the end goal and have all your parts in place beforehand and then focus on what you are doing during the install. You can do it!

Hey Gary, absolutely agree with all of your points. I keep losing the screw caps on roof landings. I'm on my 3rd set... but that might just be me... I completely agree on the cost but unfortunately that's what I've noticed 1/10 Are creeping up on 1/8 prices. Comparing it to the other 1/10 monster trucks it still blows them out of the water. I've spent over $250 on upgrades on the trmt10e and this is still way more durable. I agree it's a nice 3rd or 4th rc if you have extra electronics laying around. Otherwise if you're intent on getting a kit/roller type I'd recommend the tekno mt410 as they're in similar cost ranges and the tekno is by far more durable. Or like you said for $100 more get an arrma rtr and upgrade the few things they need and still come under the cost of this. Sorry for the long rant. Just my 2 cents I run this a lot due to space issues. Arrmas need more space I think than these, that's it's main advantage. As always i appreciate your vids and keep on kickin ass!

The point of a 1./10 truck in my opinion is the parts cost less than a 1/8th. This truck defeats that. I think if you are going to put 1/8th motor, esc and the parts being expensive you might as well go all out and get the mt410. I bet after 20-40 packs the mt410 will have paid for itself by not breaking as much
