Prominent Democrats suggest ways to replace Biden as nominee

President Joe Biden appears safe as the Democratic presidential nominee - at least for now. The Congressional Black Caucus and Congressional Hispanic Caucus, two of the most powerful groups on Capitol Hill, announced they still support him.

Yes the time needed to select a candidate is not a problem right now, but the lack of a process to re-open the selection is a huge problem. Here in Canada our parties used to just have local party members vote for local delegates. Then the delegates did a few round of elimination-votes at the Convention over a couple days. It was fun to watch, but this was changed to all-member online voting 10-20 years ago. Nowadays in Canada we party members get to vote live online during the Convention - it still only takes about 24 hours for several rounds of voting. Not MONTHS of primaries and caususes. Then the actual national election campaign takes 6-8 weeks from official beginning to election day. Not a whole freakin year.
