Not Depicted in the Anime: This guy was in a party with 3 other guys. Those 3 all had barely working equipment (read: repaired way past the point of usefulness) while he had brand new equipment at the time of the interview. The not-halfling consistently screwed his party out of dungeon treasure and (if I remember right) took the bigger cut out of the quest rewards: he handled quest taking and reporting and had his party convinced the rewards were lower than they actually were. Right before or after this interview came the interview with the rest of the party and they actually got promoted. So yeah this guy was just that much of a scumbag.

Honestly, these would be good questions. Basics are the greatest for handling situations. Sure, it may not be a Goblin, but having to adapt quickly is something all adventurerers need.

I actually did this as a DM in Dungeon of the Mad Mage. The rogue of the group scouted ahead and found a chest. I told him in a private chat that he found a chest. He proceeded to steal the contents for himself. What he failed to realize was that the chest he found was huge and he didn't hide the empty chest. The rest of the party followed and I explained as followed. You come into the room and see a very large chest sitting in the room wide open. There's a busted lock on the ground and the interior of the chest in clean. The party asked him if there was any loot and he said no. I had the paladin roll Insight and the rogue roll deception. He had a very hard time convincing the party that he had not swindled them out of their share of the loot. They ended up abandoning him on the 5th floor of the dungeon tied to a tree for werebats and a green dragon to find.

The interesting part about this scene is the fact that a lot of the lower ranks didn’t think much of Goblin Slayer till they discovered he was a silver ranked adventurer which is pretty high but on the other hand GS himself didn’t care about his rank and even admit that receiving his rank was “something the association decided“ and not something he aimed for unlike other adventurers.

Normally somebody with his “experience points” would be stamped quickly but he’d gotten a full guild audit (Guild Girls superior came in to look him over and with his record on paper she came in dubious, not generous). The key concern was normally to reach certain ranks you need to prove you can work with a party which he’d almost never done at that point. He’s an unusual case but it was judged that he still met qualifications, namely that he can work with others when need, and while he doesn’t utilize them as much his general skills are solid. She did note that while deserving an increase in rank he was a horrible adventurer, which he agreed with.

So many small details to this scene that brings it all together. GS starts off by having his hands on his knees at a more relaxed position (no weapon visible) but as he reads the room he adjusts putting his hands up near his chest. A much better position to suddenly grab or grapple with a shorter opponent. Gs took his role as an observer seriously and never lowered his guard, the Rhea actually comes off as pretty competent in correctly estimating his chances for success at a sudden sneak attack. If he goes for the girl Goblin slayer is in a great position to lunge forward grab one of his arms and strike him. Loot thief then would have the second guild girl who is clearly a magic user free to cast spells against him. If he were to lunge after the spell caster (much easier target for a thief at that range) then he would most likely succeed at killing one of the girls immediately before GS could react but then again he'd have to face off against a person wearing full plate armor in a small space. Doable but noisy and messy, so risky for what was already decided. He instead choses to walk out without his rank and ability to quest in that town but he still gets to keep all his loot and new gear. Kind of a good scenario for him as they don't really know how much treasure he actually has saved up or stolen. Also shows he can swallow his pride and know when he's beat. Definitely a tense moment and had an adventurer not been present I'm pretty sure he'd have killed both and looted their bodies before anyone noticed.

I’d like to add one thing, even if RS went for the caster, there was no guarantee that he’d make it to her either. He’d need to look away from GS, so it’d be more likely that GS would chuck something on hand, maybe even his chair , the moment RS looked away. Doesn’t matter how fast he is or how good his reflexes are, if RS looks away from an enemy, he’s probably going to get clocked if said enemy throws an improvised weapon at him.

I’ve been DMing and playing DnD for a while now. From my experience it is mostly new players who think Rogues=theives that steal from everything and everyone thinking that there will be no concequences for their actions as if they are playing a video game. It’s a shame really since I really like playing rogues as a player and to this day I have never robbed or backsttabed the parties I was with for any reason. Hell at one point my true neutral Drow rogue was the “moral” center for a bunch of newbie murderhobos supposedly playing “good” aligned characters. Honestly so long as you don’t try to screw over your party you should be fine, but I would ask your DM to see what he will and will not allow at your table just to be safe.

@@jjgarcia156 When both eyes go red, every hostile in the immediate vicinity(roughly 10-15 meters) dies, and every goblin in a 2 km radius drops dead from fear. All loot is automatically recovered and all wounds are healed. This ability is only available for use once weekly after parameters are met, including all party members needing to be below 20% health. That's the rule of the campaign I just made up in my head.

This is just such a good scene. It is this scene more than any other that makes Guild Girl my best girl. Priestess is nice, High Elf Archer is spunky, Cow Girl has a great figure and is a homemaker, and I would crawl 10 miles over broken glass for Sword Maiden. But Guild Girl shows the morals to not put up with cheats and liars, and dispatches her enemies without mercy or hesitation.

No, not really. He did had a vision where he leaped at Guild Girl, he thought it was possible. But then he looked at his side and saw Goblin Slayer. A warrior that was strong enough to do solo goblin slaying quests that normally requires a full party. In hand to hand combat he assumed he would've get destroyed by him. The guy might have been a scumbag but he was no fool, he knew he was not going to win. This is all coming from the LN btw.
