Prone upper lumbar nerve root stretch test - Femoral nerve - Nachlas’ orthopaedic test

Test the upper lumbar nerve roots and femoral nerve for irritation, compression or impingement.
The test is positive if the patient reports significant back pain, or radicular pain in upper lumbar spine and/or in the lower extremity.
A positive test may indicate upper lumbar nerve root irritation, compression, impingement (ie at the exiting nerve root from disc lesion) or femoral nerve problems.
