In this video I explain how to learn to speak a language so you can be understood. Pronunciation is key to being understood and if no one understands your pronunciation, you will not be able to communicate, however good your grammar is. - Most people learn a language to communicate with the local population - Others learn it for business purposes - But everyone wants to be able to speak - Traditional methods focus on learning through the written word - The spelling distracts us from the real pronunciation - Also contractions are hard to pronounce naturally from the written word. - In fact my best students can’t read & learn from listening & repeating - There’s no right way to learn a language - but in my experience listening & repeating many times before actually seeing the written word promotes good pronunciation, good comprehension and self-confidence as a consequence. - I’ve started teaching myself Hungarian with 50languages.com - There are other apps & courses out there that do the same at more advanced level. - Comprensibile input is very important as you progress. - To sum up - listening & repeating before reading will improve your speaking skills & give you the courage to go out & speak, knowing that you will be understood and so you will not feel blocked.

Hi, I don’t teach an accent because there are many accents out there and it’s best to learn to understand as many as possible. I’m British (but there are also various British accents) so I prefer to concentrate on pronunciation, which makes you understand and be understood: the most important factor for communication. If you are interested in the difference between Accent & Pronunciation check out my explanation in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKjcpqCdf7xkb5o

When you say British Accent I imagine you mean RP (Received Pronunciation) which is how the Queen speaks and also BBC speakers on television. It’s a curated language but the common person on the street will have a much rougher language. It’s still British but depending on which area of the UK you live, it’ll have a slightly different accent. Then there are also the local dialects.
