I absolutely adore trios that work, and I have been in and is in many trios that do work(I had to work with two siblings). But there is a trio I am in that does not work. It is honestly so boring for me. One of them obsesses over their phone while the trio spends their time together, but the second still converses with the phone obsessed more. I am a great listener, when I want to listen and isn’t petty. But for some reason the second one seems to prefer conversing with the phone obsessed. I guess it’s because their humors are similar, since I don’t ever understand what is so funny. Although, I am considered to be very funny among my family. My family also thinks I’d be popular if I spoke more freely at school. So I don’t think it is because I am not funny enough to understand the joke. I also remember instances I have been ganged up, upon. Though only two incidents have made me feel bad so far. One was when, we were talking about art. So I didn’t know many artists. But I was really interested in art and I’d say passionate(but most people don’t see it that way and think the phone obsessed is much and much more passionate, which I have nothing against). So the second one’s dad is a designer(?) and the phone obsessed is also interested in art. So they started talking about a certain artist, and I said that I didn’t know who that was. Then, they suddenly went into shock. They started going on about how I wasn’t that interested in art because I didn’t know many artists. At this point, I was really angered. I always felt that many in my life have always paid no attention to my interests and I have always gotten overshadowed by another. I have spoke about how I felt in a jokingly, light-hearted manner since I feel like I would always cry while speaking or be overthinking and speculating, then seem pretty crazy. So what I am saying may be over exaggerated and untrue. I do not want to seem spoiled and would like to be grateful to those who care about me, so I shall stop here. This was just one crazy rant and was pretty freeing. Sorry for the long comment.

I get you completely. I always feel like they want me to find someone else so they can just be best friends but people underestimate how difficult it is to try be included or even make new friends and it’s impossible to make a new best friend. As someone in a trio, it really isn’t as bad as a lot of people make it seem. Yes, there can be many toxic trios out there, and I’m not doubting that it doesn’t happen often. However, our trio works really well as we all hang out together all the time and no one is really ever left out. And yes, sometimes it’ll only be two, but we always switch it up and we’re always happy with what happens and we all get along. I just feel that people are taking this whole “trios don’t work” thing to a bit of an extent. Some trios don’t, but some trios do, and that is perfectly normal. There isn’t always a duo in a trio. Maybe if your trio isn’t working, try finding somebody else. 😐😐

someone's always bound to be left out. but coping with it is how you make it work. my friends have their common fandom, and I have my own common fandom with each of them. we include each other as much as we can. but I think because I'm an introvert, and both of them are ambivert, with one being more extroverted than the other, we complete each other. we don't overwhelm each other but we also don't leave someone out (at least, not on purpose). sometimes, yes, the conversation will be between two of any of us, but the questions are always going to be answered by the three of us. if you can't make trio friendships work, you're either: a) too young to manage your relationships or; b) friends with the wrong crowd not all relationships are good. we have to understand each other's boundaries and we have to speak up when we feel like we're being mistreated. that's how it works. or if speaking up made it all tumble down, then at least you tried. EDIT: I'd also like to add in. Majority of the time, you might not even be left out. It's just they're probably doing something they think or know you're not interested in. But if you do find yourself in that position where you feel neglected, intrude. Assert your presence into the situation and make it known you want to be included. Lets also consider that we have different dynamics with each of our friends. Regardless of how close we are to them, there's always gonna be that one friend you trust to talk about say, a fandom that you can't talk about with your other friend. There's a friend you go to for a hobby, another for gossip, etc. So, yeah.

I used to go to and international school and I’ve had trios all my life. When one person left, we would have someone new to bring into the friend group. Me, M and Jas used to hang out quite often but then Jas just left us so it was just me and M. M left so I became friends with Jess. Me Jess and A formed a friend group. Unfortunately jess left so it was me and A. But A introduced a new friend of hers (jul). Later after that A left so it was me and jul left. I left after as well. I think trios work if ur in an international school and your young. When your small you don’t tend to really do stuff like hanging out or texting. It’s always worked out for me tbh. Until about right when I moved to my new school. Half a year later I met M, H and S. But we really split up into twos. Out of the blue Sof decided to barge in. This year I wasn’t with any of my friends so I was kinda sad. There were two new girls, F and C. F was kinda rude to me but I didn’t mind. Since I had no friends in my class I decided to just be friends with them then. Big mistake, I’m always left out and the feeling sucks. My relationship with M, H and S grew a lot and I spent time with all of them and make them feel included. But Sof is in the way. I have a lot of friends but I tend to spend break on my own sometimes. Bc some of them have a activity, Sof steals M away and C and F don’t bother with me. Also this isn’t a vent, just telling y’all my story. I’m so sorry if this is long and if ur not interested lol.

I know the struggle of being the left out one in the friend group. My story is a pretty long one lol. So I used to be in a group of 4, we were doing okay I guess, but I was already being kinda left out because they were treating me like a 3 year old and excluding me from activities. This quartet lasted until one of them left the group for some reason and we turned into a trio. The trio was working well at first until a new girl joined our trio. After she joined, they started paying more attention to her and starting ignoring me. I didn’t realize I was being left out until one day there was 3 lunch passes and they all got lunch passes for themselves and not me. This caused a boy to come up to the group and try to pay those girls to say I’m not apart of their group. I didn’t want to listen to him until I explained the situation to my dad. My dad gave me something called tough love. He said that the boy was probably right and that I should leave them. I explained the situation to my mom and she told me that those friends seemed fake and that I should leave that group and find another one. I listened to my parents and I did leave that group, but it was *NOT* an easy decision… I left that group and they didn’t even notice. I joined a new group of friends and I explained to them the situation of the past friend group I was in and they responded to me by telling me how bad they felt for me and how hard it must’ve been to leave that other friend group. The group was originally me and 6 other girls until 3 more people joined our group. 2 of them are twins. 1 is a boy and 1 is a girl. They are new kids who speak Spanish and the other girl is one of my friends’ twin sister. Fortunately, no one was being left out ever since those 3 people joined our friend group. We’re a pretty big group of 10 now. Things have been going great for me! I’m still in good terms with the last friend group but I’m learning to just leave them alone. Wow i am really happy for you😊 My story is kinda different tho and its pretty long. At first we were a group of 8 friends till 5 but then a pair of twins had to shift because of their father's transfer. Then we bacame a group of 6 till 6th grade and then covid came along and we used to have online meetings but then my best friend had a fight with one of our friends in 7th grade and since then they do talk but it just isn't the same for them anymore like it used to be but they are still in the grp. After that my twin brother took allen in 9th and we had different sections and one of the friends also was shifted to some other section. Now, in 10th the friend whose section was shifted asked to let her change her section and she came back to us in 10 and that too on my birthday and i was really happy about it because atleast we 4 were together. But in the middle of the term ig it was in may or so..that one of my friends tried to manipulate me and told me how my best friend of 10 years was controlling me at first i felt that maybe she was right and she told me that i should really keep some distance between us and me being stupid did it for a while, but then i thankfully got my senses back thanks to my mom and my twin brother and then i started ignoring them and used to have brunch with just my best friend for a while they didn't say or asked us to join them in brunch. But, then one day they finally did but we did not move from our seats because whenever we used to have our brunch with them alot of boys started to join us the ones they once used to say they never liked coz they were backbenchers type . And when we did use to eat with them they always used to talk about the gossips of people who we didn't even know about coz they were of different section and am not really a type to talk about gossips neither my best friend so we used to just shut our mouths and listen to them talk which was boring and frustrating . Oh God! I don't even know how much i have written and was going to write more but its a really long story but to end this i will say that we are still friends but we don't join them in brunch anymore and we barely talk to them at school and i think they've understood i mean i hope so but ig they haven't but whatever i don't really have many friends its just us 4 in which i only talk to my bff and when she gets absent i have no choice but to join them because they ask me to whenever my bff is absent and i jsut most of the time sit quiely have my brunch stay there for a while and listen to them talk and then go back to my seat😅

STORY TIME!! Ok so at 3 years old in nursery I meet who is now my best friend , Mina! Then in kindergarten we meet , Hannah , we all became a trio . It was working at first until Hannah decided she wanted to leave me out , so that’s what she did . She left me out in conversations and forced mina to spend more time with her . Me and Mina were closer but idk why she did this , I remember this one time at our school Halloween celebration me and Mina were holding hands until Hannah pushed me away and dragged Mina away , it’s not like we left her out we always included her but we just knew eachother for a bit longer . Then she started to tell stuff to Mina like “ You don’t need her as a friend “ . Once again we always included her she just changed. Ofc bc of this we didn’t wanna hang out with her if she was going to be rude for no reason . So then this one time there was a school trip and there were only two seats for each person- bc we knew what she was doing we sat together and then Hannah stated “ Mina why aren’t you sitting with me I’m your best friend I’ve known you for seven years! “ when I had known her for seven years and she had for about 4 at the time . We kept on fighting over her . Another fight happened at break in the cafeteria when Hannah started pulling my hair and I started pulling hers , Mina was absent at the time , Then after the fight Hannah said “ I wish Mina never befriended you! “ Hannah was acting as if I stole her from her even tho I had known her for longer . i have a science class where we often do group projects. there is a large group of friends there, and i am part of it. im beginning to feel resentment, since when a project is announced they will all group up, no room for me. *i will be physically STANDING THERE and they ignore me.* i then end up having to go with someone who i dont even know, as my friends all happily collaborate and i stare (in despair after being rejected/ignored ). its always such a breeze when i get to do a lab assignment with at the very least ONE of them, but then next time i am just completely forgotten. there was one time where we picked new seats, and you had to pick your partner (who you sat directly next to). every. single. one. of. them. grouped up. into little groups. and i was the leftovers. there was one extra leftover, who brutally rejected me, so i was forced to go with the "weird kid" for the rest of the quarter. such fun

this hits mega hard, and i think it’s because i thought trios couldn’t work. i was in a trio right up until my junior year of high school, when 2 of my closest friends at the time wanted to “branch out” as we called it. i found out they were just replacing me. cut to today, i’m now 21 with zero friends because i put so much effort into 2 people who didn’t care about me. sometimes trios don’t work, sometimes they do, that’s what i’ve learned. the 3 girls are still friends in super toxic ways, quite literally putting their lives in danger with the amount of partying they’ve done, so in a way i’m glad. the world sometimes just doesn’t prepare for the realization that you are a problem in other peoples eyes, and that’s something i’ve had to accept.

Sadly, something like this happened to me before. I had a best friend I was friends with ever since I was 3 years old. We were the best of friends, she was so special to me. Nobody was like her, she was my everything. We even called ourselves “spirit besties” when we were young. I introduced her to my cousin and that was the worst decision of my life. She barely talks to me and always hangs out with my cousin, they would both insult me and side with eachother in every argument. It got so bad to the point I started getting insecurities at a young age. It never stopped, and everyday it felt like there was an unfixable hole in my heart. No matter how many new friends i had, none of them was like her. I miss her so much but all she does is make me upset. I get her gifts, I care for her, I check on her, but she does nothing in return. The only thing she does is make me feel like I shouldn’t exist. Then when I try tell her what she’s doing to my self-esteem she calls me an attention seeker, and then tries to blame her actions on me. And the way that makes me and her relation ship the same as this video, is because we used to tell eachother all our secrets, and we knew everything about eachother. And recently me her and my cousin decided to play a quiz game of How well we know eachother. She answered everything about my cousin correct and did not know anything about me. Not even my favorite colour. I sometimes sit down and think of how much I hate my life because of her. I told my parents but they said that new friends is the solution. They don’t understand I can’t let go. She was my best friend for so long and I love her so much. But she doesn’t love me back..

I used to be in a trio like this and I always got left out. It was clear that they preferred hanging out alone without me there, so I just stopped talking to them after a while. Same used to be in a group of 4 but sadly one had to retake another year so now in a trio..though we still hang out with the fourth girl it's just not the same as we don't have the same schedule

I’m in a trio and it’s so hard, they’re cousins so I’m also the center of attention whenever it’s the three of us, but I know one day they’ll side with each other if there’s an argument because there’s family .

fr. let me tell a story. so i have been good friends with my cousin, and then i found out that my best friend and my cousin play a lot of the same games and i thought it might be cool to play games with both of them because it became hard to juggle playing with both of them at separate times. so i decided we should play together! so we started hanging out as a trio and it was all fun and in a few months, we were really close and i was starting to notice one thing… i would see them in spotify jams and in calls without ringing me? and they would always be talking about their favorite music artists, they are a 99% music taste match in spotify. and i dont really like those artists, so i would ask if we could play and then my cousin would always say “no im bored im gonna go” and leave. AND THEN I WOULD SEE THEM PLAYING ROBLOX TOGETHER. I dont know if im overreacting but i feel kinda like a 3rd wheel rn

Welllll, i'm in a very healthy trio❤... the thing is all three pf us have to be understanding sometimes. For example, for love advice meaning when i want to talk about my crush,i first go to one of my friends. Of course im not hiding it from other friend. And when i need to talk about a problem, i go to the other friend. But at the end of the day, we all dont have any secret because we are sooo comfortable with each other and we trust each other. We don't talk about each other behind our backs ... soooo,, yeahhh trios can work. I cant choose one friend out of them becuz they are both equally amazing and comfortable for me❤❤❤❤

I used to have a trio and I was the one left out often.. but one of the people in my trio had to move schools, so yeah that happened but when we all called/facetimed together, they didn’t really include me in their conversations :( it’s sad but I hope everyone understands that *most* trios don’t work 🥹✌🏻

This is why I don’t do trios. In my life there’s always been friend number one the favorite friend who is friends with the other two and holds the friendship together, then friend number two the friend who was friends with friend number one after friend number three yet is just a tad bit closer to friend one, and finally the third friend who always gets left out, talked about behind their back, and somewhat disliked by friend number two. I’ve always been friend number three.

It’s not that trios don’t work it’s the people in the trios leave them and find ppl who don’t judge or whatever
