Going back to your comment on George Washington being the best president ever. Then to your conversation about voting for someone who wants to pump more money into Ukraine.. Drew’s morning routine is exactly like mine. I have 3 kids and am able to balance it while driving, working out and preparing to leave the house. Being able to let things play while you do other mindless tasks are how you fit it in. Sure, it takes a few hours but it’s not a few hours where I am literally doing nothing else, staring at the wall while listening.

Staying on top of current events is crucial to being a strong leader in your family and making the right decisions for them. When I read about farms being bought up, chickens and meat facilities being burned down, I knew I need to step up find a contingency way to provide for my family. It’s not all about politics

I don't find Current events necessary. I read the Bible and I know exactly what these jokers are up to. I also no the way it ends. We are at war, but what we really need to fight this war is the Word of God. Satan is very real, and he is putting in work. I will do the same to oppose these dark forces. God bless

Personally I've completely cut out all mainstream news sources. Pretty much none of it is useful. I mostly stick with indie commentators. Salty cracker is actually a pretty good all around one even though his focus is more on humor. China Uncensored and his affiliate channels are also good. A really good one a lot of people don't know about is Stand Up and Lead newsletter, which is run by Trex Arm's Lucas' father. His posts are short but very good insight. even if largely preaching to the choir. Oh also AVOW is pretty good, but they don't post nearly as frequently as they used to a decade ago. It's basically a mormon group.

Your *local* politics are far more important than what's on the 24hr news cycle. Most people can't even name their current councilman. Go sit at council meeting. Engage with your school board. Volunteer for your county's voting board. Our founders _knew_ this from experience. That's why limited federal government was such a big part of their creation.

My problem is I hold a stance just like Drew, but I also spend too much time keeping up with events about subjects I find important. I should probably dial that back a bit, and spend my time in my woodshop instead.

Something we don't talk about enough in sustainability circles is marriage. The most important thing you can have when shtf is a Godly spouse. The individual is not the base unit of society, that would be the family. Be the person you want your ideal spouse to marry, marry them, and treat them like they're God's greatest gift to you.

I listen to a lot of podcasts over the news. A lot of figures like Mike Glover, Guns and Gadgets, Prep Medic, Matt Walsh, Tucker Carlson, Shawn Ryan etc. Kinda touch on all bases hearing things. End of the day gotta take a break from it at times because it’s straining trying to keep up with everything and it shouldn’t be that way. The Value out of it all is SHTF I’m prepared thanks to channels like yalls. No water? I have storage. civil unrest ? I train how to defend. Food shortage ? I have that storage and My family has been learning to homestead. Gotta get out of town? I have a plan where to go. The dollar is shit? Solid silver and gold investments. It’s a lot of work and overwhelming at times , I’m not the most prepared by any means and am always learning, but I won’t be caught in the fire or see my family struggle. Tackle a certain thing at a time try not to fall in a rabbit hole 😂 (it’s hard not too) on one specific thing. Great video!

I think what’s important to have is a good balance like Drew said. When you have a family it’s significantly more important to provide that good upbringing and support. However, a lot of current events will also effect your family and if you’re not prepared to defend against these things you’ll fail. For me at the moment, I don’t have a family of my own. I have a girlfriend but that dynamic is different than being married with new children. We try to make ourselves better every day but at the moment we DO have a-lot more time to keep up with the current events. I will note the balance is off still, I feel like these events dwell on my life significantly every day. They effect my work ethic, my feelings, and sometimes my relationships. All I can say, is take note of the immediate consequences of the events that happen. If it’s nothing drastic to you, keep it in the background.

I was a news a politics/policy junkie since i was a teen. I got involved in politics during college and worked and managed campaigns as well as worked for a congressperson. But i echo Drew's sentiments. The news is so different now than years ago as its all mostly propaganda and talking points. If you look at an interview from the early 90s or 70s or 80s, you can see people, including politicians, giving there actual opinions. Look up even shows with an ideological bent like Bill BUckley's show or the Mclaughlin Report or a show like Nightline. But news shows now everyone, including the news people, have an agenda. I tap on a few news links to keep up with current events as I sincerely believe part of good citizenship is being informed and so you can actually develop informed opinions, but most news now is just set up to make you angry. It is an energy drain and there is so many more productive ways i can use that energy.

I have kids, we go to church the kids do sports we have a one-year-old as well. I still train physically and weapon proficient. I camp and practice survival skills. Every once in a while I like to get in an hour of video games. If we lead busy fulfilling lives current events seem trival at best to what really matters. And yet, current event have the potential to effect what really matters. Balance in all things I suppose.

As a Christian, I think you have to ask if politics (staying current) is edifying and profitable and where's the line between that and it becoming toxic. And maybe toxic is the wrong word to describe consuming media, but there's for sure a line somewhere, where it does become unhealthy. Things to consider>> Is the time I'm spending listening to politics taking away from my time in prayer or studying Gods word? Is it taking time away from serving family/friends/body of Christ etc? Is there something else I should be spending time in and how do I measure the value of pursuing politics (this will be different for everyone probably based on calling) At what point does avoiding politics become an issue where you're grossly underprepared for disasters of various kinds? For what it's worth I think like a lot of things, balance is important. Anyway, just spitballing my thoughts.

18:00 well that kind of fell apart when you change the arguement from NATO to UN. If Russian (or Belarus) attacks Poland, US MUST respond because of NATO artical 5, just as the rest of NATO did after 9/11. Alliance does have a factor in the first 2 WW, but then after the WWII, US domestic policy realise that isolationism does not work. What happen to the rest of the world matters over here too. Lets roll back to something closer. Ukraine is one of the biggers agriculture exporters in the world. 16.91 million tons of wheat in 2018 (6th in the world), while US is 23.93 million tons (3rd) and Russia is 44.64m tons (1st). Global Wheat prices actually doubled (or at least went 1.5x) at the start of the war (dropped back down since the grain deal). Poland is also the second biggest potato producer and 6th largest pork and milk producers in the world. So you can see where this is going to go. NATO works and does matter as a deterent, for security, trade and cooperation in European countries and here in NA. Finally back to the topic in hand. I would say that it's important to stay informed. Everyone makes decisions based on what they know, and you more accurate information you know, the better decision you will make. And once again, what happens out there matters over here too.

If I have the time to sit down & watch anyone on tv it would have to be Mark Levin. I've read his books & he's very well versed legally & constitutionally. I keep a pocket copy of the Constitution in my backpack & read that often. No-one I know can really intellectually discuss the Constitution or Scripture,it's become a dead language.

I happen to agree with Drew conceptually. Frankly, on a national level, I am over it. Totally, completely, utterly OVER IT. I frankly don't have the time or the emotional bandwidth to sort through all the dross, and quite frankly I have lost so much faith in the current situation that I just don't have the spoons.

I hate that we’ve come to this point but I firmly believe we cannot vote our way out of this mess. Voting is what got us here and sadly, I think, the only way to reclaim our freedom is by force. I know this would never happen because our country is too divided but a sure way to reclaim power would be if the entire country refused to vote and nobody turned in a ballot. WE THE PEOPLE would do what we did once before and restructure a free and peaceful society. It’s a dream I know.

Hey gents. Love your content. Been trying to keep up with your podcast too. I just got done serving in the Marine Corps about a year ago and your stuff has been helping me find a potential direction I might want to take my life in. Also am Ukrainian. Most of my family is over there. Multiple people serving and fighting. Just wanted to let you know from my family we're endlessly grateful to the US for the support. Ukraine would have fallen a very long time ago without the Americans helping. Please dig into the sources on the whole NATO/UN "expansion" bs, and the supposed corruption that is rampant in Ukraine. Don't get me wrong, it is there, but it is vastly overstated in the western information spaces. This war was always going to happen as far as Putin is concerned. Russians have always looked down on Ukrainians as basically being subhuman, lesser than them. They don't see Ukraine as a country, or its citizens as a people. NATO has little to nighing to do with that.

I was subscribed to ~5 or so 2A news channels here on YT by December of 2022. ...But after ~6 months of hearing basically the same bad stuff every day, I realized it was really annoying me. I'm WAY happier not following any of that feed now.

Probably not your intention, but this video made me realize I too spend far too much time locked into things that won't matter. Think about the train derailment, it was catastrophic. People cared until they found something else to distract them. Even people on the right played into the story while it helped their clicks. Now, nothing. I imagine East Palestine is still wrecked from it. But we look at where the media tells us to look. So, I unsubbed a bunch of pages after this video. Thanks for checking me lol.

I wouldn't take anything from Shapiro or Beck at face value. Also, I believe McCarthy said he supported an impeachment inquiry on Biden or something to that effect. Typical politician weasel words. There are plenty of alternative news sources out there and they are growing besides Shapiro, Beck or Newsmax. Search around and be skeptical.

Haven't watched the news since I was 15, so no news for 20 years. Still best decision I ever made. I didn't even stop watching because of politics, I stopped because of the negativity. I didn't understand then why it was always negative stories from across the country/world when it was a local news station. As a small town western Canadian what bearing at all does someone in New York getting shot have on my life and why am I seeing this and only one small story in the the news hour about something legitimately good? News is boomer doom and gloom porn. It's kinda sad if you think about it, me not having watched the news in 20 years, I am still more knowledgeable and up to date with accurate and relevant information compared to chronic news watchers in my life

If you are going to follow current events you must utilize multiple sources, even those you personally disagree with. Years ago I learned if I can't change it I'm not going to worry about it. I live in a small news market and will watch our local news for its weather and sports (high school sports). I spend more time on KZbin than anything else but rarely watch news/political videos. 99.99% of the news stories have zero effect on us, so why beat yourself up?
