The fastest was to propagate succulents that I have ever found! Taking cuttings is the easiest, most productive, and most successful way to propagate succulents. These succulents have started stretching for the light and getting too tall and lengthy. By taking cuttings, we can restart the succulent's growth and multiple them at the same time!

Perfect timing! I was showing my husband two succulents that are looking really crazy and the babies have babies and he thought that was how they were supposed to look. I was just changing their direction but clearly they need more sun. Thanks, girl! I'll be moving them today. I, and my succulents, thank you! 😁

I just found this video after getting some leaves to propagate. This video has been one of the most straightforward in explaining why plants stretch and how best to fix them. I brought a succulent from the supermarket-UK- and I left it on the windowsill going on holiday and it stretched out. I was a little afraid to behead it, but glad I did so, I kept the mother plant too and that is still okay. I think I should invest in a grow light to help them along.

Hi Jess, This video was extremely helpful and I thank you. I am new to succulents and purchased 12 different varieties in 2" pots a while back. I am enjoying them a great deal but quite a few of them have stretched and I am wondering if your technique will work on any variety. I would be glad to send a photo if you need to see them. I would also be willing to buy a book on the raising of succulents if you know of a good one. Thanks for any help, Janell

Do you find your Lola's needing more light than your other echeverias (like your superbum for example) to keep from stretching? Or were these Lola's just further from the grow light vs. the other succulents you showed us that were nice and compact? Thanks for the great video and love your pup!
@AngelsGrove
@AngelsGrove 3 жыл бұрын
It is kind of hard to tell as they were technically on the same shelf but the way I had them positioned originally, I think the Lola’s light was being blocked by some other succulents. But the ones I showed were on the same shelf and they didn’t stretch nearly as much. So it could be a Lola thing too that they need more light!

What happens if you leave them stretched out? Will they survive?
@AngelsGrove
@AngelsGrove 3 жыл бұрын
In this case, they would be fine because they weren't too stretched out. For other succulents that get really stretched out, they will lose their strength and will probably die if they don't get more access to light. You don't have to cut it, but you should give it more light if it is stretching.

I'm fairly new to propagating and am currently doing my first round of leaf propogation. I'm having some success, but I have 5 or so leaves that have grown a lot of roots but no baby plant. They've been sitting on cactus soil and I mist them every day or every other day. Any reason they are not growing baby plants? They've been growing roots for about a month but no plants. Am I watering too much? Too little? Any ideas would be helpful!!!
@AngelsGrove
@AngelsGrove 3 жыл бұрын
This is why leaf propagation is my least favorite haha 😂 it is so unreliable. You probably aren’t doing anything wrong. It is kind of up to chance whether or not you will get babies. I personally don’t even water my leafs though and just set them in a dish next to a window and check back on them every few weeks. Once they have a baby, then I move them to some soil and begin watering. Just keep watching them, there really isn’t anything you can do to get them to grow babies.

I have finally got 2 Lola leaves to propagate after having placed them on my cactus soil mix in a shallow container near a south facing window! I’m thrilled lol! 1 has 2 Lola heads on 1 & 2 on another!! I’m SO excited bc I have tried & been very patient. I started out w/ 2 Lola plants & now after propagation through cuttings I have 12 not including the 2 Lola-leaf-babies (& what comes from the last cuttings I did this last week🤞🏻)! I just love it!
