If you want to eliminate any pests, keep circulation going. Keep a fan going above succulents on low, you’ll notice less and less outbreaks. I use to have a huge problem with mealy bugs, realized moisture wasn’t helping the situation. I haven’t had any pests since incorporating a fan in my grow rooms.

I put my leafs under a grow light and I've had great results. What you showed as 4 mo of growth I accomplished in 2 weeks under a light.

What kind if light do you use? I was thinking of getting one because I have to move some of my plants & they'll be getting less light so I'm worried about them
@ThisIsMyOpinion707 Жыл бұрын
Well, plants typically need darkness to root. I know a lot of videos make it seem as though leaving them out in the sun sitting on top of dirt is best. This is bc succulents usually start generating a new pup BEFORE they root, which is what you want. Doing it this way takes the longest, in my opinion, bc they can only root during the night. I allow the leaf ends to scab over then, place them INTO shallow dirt and mist them with water and place them under a grow light. Any grow light will work. I'm still experimenting. Ill be back to leave you the link to my upcoming website, there will be a ton of information covering a wide variety of topics, hints, tips, tricks, diy ideas, How Tos for everything gardening.
@ThisIsMyOpinion707 Жыл бұрын
@Lisa Liekhus I leave the light on a few days, a day off, then back on. I think it's most important to have it on at night. although the leave can grow a pup without rooting first, you still want the leaf to root and establish itself in the dirt. That's why I don't just set mine on top of dirt. I place them sighting into the dirt. Don't worry about the pup. It will grow above the dirt regardless. Turning the light off during the day is fine and saves electricity. Forgetting to turn it back on at night over time will cause the pup to stretch out in search of light. I keep them under the light until the pups have established themselves in the dirt and then they can be transferred outside.

This works ones you have several succulents growing in one plant. But leaf propagation works when you only have one rosette or succulent to start your propagation.

I love love love this! It's funny if you pay attention to nature it'll tell you everything! I've been saving leaflets from crappy stores that shouldn't sell plants... Walmart I also have been seeing offshoots while out & about but they're sow small or the stem is sow dried that I feel they have no hope. I tried saving one. Plucked it, dried stem & all & then bc I didn't know what else to do, stuck the stem & base of dead flower in pot outside. This was idk maybe a month, definitely a few weeks. I've seen no growth & been semi worried about it but only bc it's not showing that it's dying either. Anywho! Fast forward to just finding your video & I dug up the lil dead stem flower to find that the stem is actually being revived AND when I took off all the dead leaves + a bottom row or two of leaves the roots were still in tact & there was a new root or two!!! Now I feel more relaxed knowing that I have done more to save it. Sow I replanted it, laid out the new leaves & will pleasantly wait 🥰 All that to say, thanks a bunch lol!

@AngelsGrove2 жыл бұрын
Aww that makes me so happy to hear because yes you can for sure do this!!! The first one is a perle von nurnberg and I don’t know the name of the second one but then I have a zebra haworthia and a bear paws. Any echeveria, sedum, graptopetalum, graptoveria, haworthia, aloe, gasteria, literally anything this method should work on! Like I said in the video though, the only one I haven’t tried is like a single ball cactus because there isn’t a ‘stem’. Just make sure to let them be watered in the previous week and this works beautifully. Video linked in description shows a lot more examples too if you are curious. Good luck🥰

i haven't heard anyone but you mention leaf props having issues with mealybugs! i've just started noticing so many of my leaf props having issues with lil mealybugs. do you happen to have any remedies or suggestions on how to prevent that? do i need to water less or is it just inevitable?
@AngelsGrove2 жыл бұрын
Literally the worst 😖 so this is usually controversial, but for me, what I find to work well is to dip them in rubbing alcohol when I find bad ones. If there are only a few, you can just squash them. But rubbing alcohol should kill the bug but will also take off the protective white coating so protect it from the light a little more.
@ashleybuffa79712 жыл бұрын

@AngelsGrove2 жыл бұрын
If there is a healthy looking section, it wouldn’t hurt to take a cutting if you think the plant isn’t doing well as a resort to save it. But if the plant isn’t already doing well, then it isn’t guaranteed the cutting will work

@AngelsGrove2 жыл бұрын
There isn’t really a time when it is ready. Anytime should work as long as it’s leaves aren’t wrinkly(then water it and wait a few days). But I usually like to wait until they are a quarter in size about.

@kathrynkenyon785 Жыл бұрын
Sorry, but i dont know what you're talking about. So frustrating. "Take a cutting," what does that mean? Are your results from planting cutting, if so how do you plant the cutting, soil type, watering guide, etc, or are your results from the parent plant that buds out more because it has been cut back?
@DANNYTHEFROG123 Жыл бұрын
Cut the top off the parent plant like she shows and stick it aside. Let it heal over for days. Then place it in a pot with the same soil you use on succulents. I don't water mine until at least 3 days and only water when soil is dry.
