Is there a min standard “fall” for the locker to be higher than the through hull? Next, could a one way check valve be installed between the through hull and the storage locker to prevent heavy following seas from collecting in the locker. AND, still allow gas’s to escape?

Thanks! I noticed most images show a POL connection to the tank can Type I fitting be used? Also, sounds like steel or aluminum tanks can be used. Is that right?

Please revisit the "do propane tanks need to be replaced with age?" question. DOT requires periodic inspection and recertification of LPG tanks.

Propane bottle orientation is specific. A standard propane bottle can not be laid on its side and function properly. A horizontal bottle has different internal plumbing that allows the bottle to function properly in a horizontal orientation.

I have my propane tank locker venting to the swim platform right above the water line. What does anybody think about that

What is your call on a system which supplies propane to two appliances. The first appliance is a stove, inside the boat which has a solenoid valve in the propane locker to shut it off. The second appliance is a fridge which has no remote shut off in the cabin. The back of the fridge is open to the cockpit and well vented. The propane locker is about 6 feet from the back of the fridge.

FYI: lecture actually starts at 5:33 @ABYC , you should try to get the length of your intros down. 5.5 minutes is pretty excessive.

1. There is good information in the intro. 2. The webinar is FREE. It always astounds me that people get free valuable information, and they still find the reason to complain.

@13:13 "temperature range of 0°F to 140°F" While I am happy that you DID take care to label them as Fahrenheit, why on earth did you not put the Celsius there too? Just add it to the slide, you can skip saying if you really want. But ABYC is a large organization that should be trying to have more international appeal to help reduce the amount of patchwork regulations in the world. A good yacht should be able to make it to another country, and then meet their safety standards upon arriving. That means labelling things with proper units.

@16:13 "15 square inches... per cubic foot" oh my dear god. So, for every 12inches cubed we need a 3.872983346207417 inch by 3.872983346207417 inch square open? Who came up with a square with sides of 3.872983346207417 inches as the rule? If you're going to use a base 12 system like feet why don't you use factors of 12?! Such as: 16 square inches per cubic foot. Please just switch to meters instead. You can copy a European standard and translate it to inches since you clearly don't care about round numbers anyway.

sorry but this was terrible content from abyc... tanks are good as long as they look okay??? no they are stamped with date and must be re-certified or replaced. You don't know that vertical and horizontal tanks are different - laying them on their side is not okay??? you don't know how LPG and LNG are different and the differences between them... the heat produced from the different gasses is .. well different and the orifices for the stoves need to be changed to take that into account.
