@Hybrid Libertarian No it's a business, no fires means no funding. More fires and emergencies more budget from taxes they can get yearly for equipment and depending on the city and size you have paid firefighters and then volunteer departments. Just like with police when clinton came in and they started really cracking down on crime. They had massive police layoffs in med to large cities. Less crime means you need less police. Less crime means less police funding.

You have to turn the pressure down significantly or it'll literally blow itself out (or never start). That hose is ridiculously short by the way. But do you ever get the sense that the neighbors moan when they see you step into your backyard? You really made me squirm torching near someone else's property, a kayak, a short hose, all that gas floating around...you weren't smoking were you? Next time try it with a cigarette and get yourself inducted into the Darwin hall of fame.

1. Cut the weeds down. 2. Rake up the weeds, dry leaves, dry grass etc. 3. Remove all items from the area. 4. If you really just want to burn something do it in the middle of your yard on a thick layer of sand. 5. Try to find adult supervision. 6. If you can't find adult supervision, ask your neighbors to slap you hard until you decide to go inside and watch TV.

From a former torch down roofer and regular torch weeder: remain 1/2 hour with fire extinguisher in hand (put your fire extinguisher up high or on your back for show and go”and make sure your weeds don’t love fire for dispersion. Also if you do it only after a rain or on a wet morning nobody will question you. On a hot day you will take the heat from neighbors, the fie dept (read these posts )etc. Us a fire proof movable barrier like a piece of rolled roofing when up against structures that are foreign. Air circulation behind old walls can whip up billows you can’t control.or spot till is too late.

I wasn’t being critical of you at all,I knew you knew what you were doing and burning down your neighbors property was tongue in cheek I saw some responses that lead me to believe some individuals thought it was all a joke and since so few do it and the recent round up scare makes it so important an alternative, I was trying to add some fire zone tips to lend lend readability and proliferate the practice for those respectfully hesitant (not recognizing the entertainment value of your great flame thrower imitation )
@bwhite661
@bwhite661 5 жыл бұрын
No worries. I didnt take it as criticism. I thought they were great tips. I also used it one winter when the back driveway froze with a small layer of water. It smoothed out the ice so the kids could slide around on it better. No worries about starting a fire then! :)

I use my torch on weeds. It does seem to work. But those big weeds, like my overgrown garden, i use a weed whacker first. The problem I see often, is the fire burns the leaves, but the roots will just send up new leaves afterwards. Oh, one plus... it incinerates weed seeds!!! Heck yah, I’m sold!!!

PLEASE HAVE YOUR GARDEN HOSE TURNED ON AND NEARBY AT ALL TIMES! I used a small propane blow torch to kill weeds and grass around planters. I was really on a roll until I came too close to a nearby juniper bush (very flammable apparently), one caught on fire and within seconds I had a huge fire. Luckily my neighbors were watching (probably wondering what the heck I was up to now) and ran out and helped me extinguish the flames as their hose was much closer to the situation than mine. I lost a good portion of our shared juniper bushes but luckily our houses didn't ignite. Oops..

When I use mine i stay away from anything I don't want catching fire and I use roundup on that stuff. You're smart to keep the hose handy, that's just a must. I also stay mindful of the direction the nozzle is blasting. I always angle it away from any areas I don't want catching fire. A bit of a learning curve but I love the things.

First off you need to have a smaller tip on that for a more controlled burn. second I'll get off your lazy butt and pull all the stuff out of the way before you start burning. that's pretty doggone lazy. Dude move the kayaks first.! and don't be burning around the neighbor's shed especially when he has a piece of Styrofoam right next to the shed ! And I agree with the other commenter. You only need to hit the weeds for a few seconds each with a blue flame, just enough time for the plant to wilt a little. This changes the molecular structure of the plant and kills it the next day.
