Rashad! Great job on this Sample Chop Tut! The best I've seen. You've simplified and utilized Reason efficiently. Perfect! Thanks for taking the time to create this vid. Best wishes!

Hands down, I think this is the best chopping video I've seen with Reason - thank you! I've been trying to streamline my workflow, and up until this video, I was pretty sure that I was going to have to move on to a Maschine or go back to the MPC. Combine this with Reason 7's ability to bounce to REX, and... wow.

Argonbeatz you can pitch it up in the edit window right at the top of the window. Just type in the number (-12 to +12
@RashadCoesBMFR11 жыл бұрын
Max, there are TWO points in this process where you're going to BOUNCE AS NEW RECORDING. The first time is when you have chopped the loop segment that you want to use. The second time is when you've gotten the loop locked to the intended tempo.

I like that, man. Nice video. I have Logic and I've really been lookin pretty hard at Reason. What are you using to trigger your samples on the Kong? Midi Keyboard? Akai MPD?
@RashadCoesBMFR11 жыл бұрын
Ok, I think you just gave me my next video idea... I'll find a sample that is very loose... there is a way to add little "micro" stretches to "snap" drums to the grid.
@dabeatmanFROMtheNO11 жыл бұрын
i like the way you did this. i'm utilizing this technique in my beats now. the only trouble i'm having is when you stretch that last little section at the end of the sample to make it loop real good. when i select that little section it doesn't stretch for me. what am i doing wrong? i followed exactly what you did, i think. when you zoom in it then shows that you made a cut there. is this correct?
@skwotchfro471811 жыл бұрын
Basically, how did you do your set up for this vid because for some reason, I'm just a little lost.
@jtutstone11 жыл бұрын
@ AGONZBEATZ, yo Bro, same thing happened to me the first time as well, but then i re-tried and just followed the steps one at a time, with R7 up at the same time! Try That!
@RashadCoesBMFR11 жыл бұрын
If you are doing both of these bounces, THEN enable the stretch, your loop will not move anymore, it will just change tempo.
@RashadCoesBMFR11 жыл бұрын
Exactly... I apologize if I didn't make that clear.... Yes if you want to Stretch any piece of a greater loop, I suggest cutting that section out and then save it as a "NEW RECORDING" think of it the same way the MPC Drum Machine truncatesa sample. You can then stretch that section of the loop ake your loop tight, then simply join the loop back together and save THAT as a new recording... Don't worry about all the extra cuts... Reason can OPTIMIZE the session meaning it will get dumped unused.

Haha. Yeah I'm sure the check is in the mail. New video up in this weekend. Match Acapella to tempo.
@mastamnd11 жыл бұрын
Question. What do you do when after you change your tempo to fit a sample into a 4 bar loop and your loop sounds good w/out the click but with it it's off noticeably? Particularly around bars 2 and 3? I followed you step by step and for some reason I can't get the click to match the loop after I make my edits, bounce as a new recording, disable stretch, change tempo to move the wave to fit the loop? Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong?
@AGONZBEATZ11 жыл бұрын
is there a way to pitch this up in reason without using any sampler?

at the point of reenabliing the snap and then the stretch, when I drag my clip, it just creates the empty section at the end again...

Thumbs up from me bruh. Quick question. How did you set the Kong up to have it ready for the chops to be bounced inside it?
@RashadCoesBMFR11 жыл бұрын
You don't have to "set it up" so to speak... All you'd have to do is chop the sample into "slices" select all the slices, then export them (right click choose bounce to SAMPLES). Once you've done that, all you have to do is open a Kong, Redrum, or any other sample player in Reason and select from the UNASSIGNED Samples folder Hit me at Wallbangerz@gmail.com for more detailed info... Glad to help

CooperJaesMom I apologize. My video assumes that you've already converted to either Aiff or Wav. In Reason 7 recycle is now part of Reason so either method will get u the right result. But to answer your question I converted the MP3 to Wav format before I filmed the clip.

Im with Max Russell. When I do the stretch at the end of the loop, its just an empty section..its not stretching the end of the sample at all. Any help? I use Reason 7
