I am a full timer for the past five years and always try to keep my tank very clean. Thanks for your information , which I find to be very accurate. But one thing that I would like to add I’d, using my factory clean out is good but I still, about once a month, find it helpful to use the old fashioned stick wand and go through the toilet from the inside using a hose for a better clean out. I have tested using the wand after cleaning with the factory system and managed to get a lot more waste cleaned out using the wand.

Hey RV Tech. New sub here and full timer in a 1995 Monaco dynasty. In future videos (this is the first I’ve watched so maybe your newer videos have it) when you recommend something like the chemicals for the tank could you please post a link or more info in the description or comments? I understood one of the chemicals you mentioned but had a hard time hearing the other. My hearing is not the best anymore either. Thanks for the info. I’ll check out more videos soon. This summer for me has been educating. Hot water heater, air conditioner, and inverter have all decided they wanna take a break. Well being broke I can’t afford to hire anyone so I’m learning lots from peoples videos. Kinda sucks when ya have old appliances and stuff because most videos cover newer models. But I’m getting close to having all these issues dealt with. Well anyways, thanks again for the videos. Goodby from Eugene OR.

Fill black tank then dump it, flush drain lines with the grey water. Keep plenty of water and surfactant/deodorant in the black tank all the time. Hot water will melt waxes, soaps, fats, oils and grease. When they melt they MUST be flushed well or you just made a big plug that will find a low spot and eventually cause a plug in the system.

Great video and look forward to more! How about valve maintenance? My black and grey valves get tough to open or close sometimes. Is there something to spray into the valve or? Mine don’t have cables just straight pull handles.

I was reading that putting a mixture of pine sol, calgon ageless bath pearls and water will help and clean the sensors. What is your take on this mixture for use in the black tank?

One thing I do is I use a tub in my kitchen sink. Once it am done with hand washing or light dish washing I use that water and dump in the toilet/blank tank.

I really like this video. But, I have another problem. We own a 2020 Keystone Cougar half-ton and cannot get rid of the formyahide smell. We bought an Ozone machine, and bought chemicals off the internet that worked for a while but the smell keeps coming back. Can you help us?

Just found your channel and find it informative and easy to watch. I have a question regarding the black tank. I am a full timer and was told that these tanks are not septic tanks, but holding tanks. And you do not want to break down the 💩 where it can become sludge. I used RV Digest It, but now use a mixture of PineSol, Calgon Bath Pearls and water (10oz Pine-Sol, 2 tbsp Calgon and 32 oz water. 1 cup per tank + 2 gallons of water when flushed). Based on your expertise, is this a bad practice? Thank you in advance for your answer.

I live full time in my trailer. You mention poop pyramid. Do you have any suggestions to help fix this problem? I do use chemicals but i am now emptying my black tank every week instead of every other week. I do add plenty of water, just like i have done for the past year. BTW no toilet paper Ever!!

Wow I’ve ran the fan without a windows open ! And I’ve added chemicals to the tank before storing. Oops

I wonder if mines a bit stinky because I haven’t been using much water when flush. Maybe I need one of those spray things? I’ll try the hot water or ice first.

My issue was that the vent line was never extended through the roof! It took a while to find it. I was suspecting that one of the P traps was not flooded but I was so focused on that there had to be another source. When I remodled the Toilet space and removed one the the wall panels, I found it! Just shoddy workmanship.

No digestion, it’s a holding tank!!! Breaking down solids cause the buildup on the tank walls. Something that breaks the water surface tension like a surfactant will help solids leave your tank. Water is 100% your friend, use plenty of it. Grey tanks need a degreaser like simple green to clean the fats, oils and greases. I have a drain and holding tank cleaning company and see this all the time…

I have been using unique RV digest for years and have had zero issues or odors or sensor failures.. that’s why they are extremely specific with the exact amount of ounces to use.. I agree , water is your friend as well.. that’s why every time, I dump my black tank, I always do a black tank flush for 10 minutes.. to get any residue out of the tank.

I have been using RidX septic tank chemical for two years instead of RV chemicals without problems. Can anyone give me a reason for not using it going forward?
@nickk3765 Жыл бұрын
Could be so caustic it breaks down the plastic, most septics are made with concrete. I think if you flush it regularly enough it probably won't be an issue

Just my opinion. If you travel with an RV and only spend 1 to 2 nights at RV parks and dump the tank before you leave each time, enzymes will do no good. If you park and stay for week, month, or longer, different story. Also, some studies have shown that saliva and stomach juices (which is enzymes and acid) So the videos that show dog food or some combination of other foods in water, with and without enzymes, mean nothing as they are not real waste. From internet searches, Gastric juice is made up of digestive enzymes, hydrochloric acid and other substances that are important for absorbing nutrients - about 3 to 4 liters of gastric juice are produced per day. The hydrochloric acid in the gastric juice breaks down the food and the digestive enzymes split up the proteins.Dec 31, 2009 What science says about septic tank additives There is little scientific data to suggest that you should add bacteria or enzymes to your septic system. The United States Environmental Protection Agency reported that biological additives do not appear to improve the performance of healthy septic tanks. These same findings were unable to justify the cost of septic system additives for residential use (EPA, United States, 2002). As I said, just my opinion. Respectfully, Kevin
