TheDobbermn I like to clean the shoes with the microfiber terry cloths which you can also buff the shoes after applying the polish. But I like to use the Edgeless 365's for buffing the polish. They're awesome, no lie.

Criss-cross lacing is popular, but it encourages lace wear and tends to corrugate the vamps. A better solution is over-under lacing, which reduces wear on the boot and the lace.

AE Higgins Mills are made with Horween Chromexel (CXL) leather. I thought you were not supposed to use wax or polish on CXL. Just conditioner like neatsfoot oil or Saphir Renovateur.

Great question! You can put polish on some areas to get a desired shine, but you are correct. I usually stick to the creams or oils with the Chromexel leathers, but some Ex-Military customers desire the caked on wax look.

Jason I’m throwing out a hypothesis here... In first putting on neutral it partially fills in the pores with what waxes are in the cream. Wouldn’t the color pigment take better if it was put on first, then continue with neutral after if necessary? I call this a hypothesis because when filling in for color I’ve only ever used pigmented cream or polish first, not after a neutral. Your experience please sir.?
