It's nice seeing someone take pride in their work. I Live in Wisconsin and my aunt retired from Allen Edmonds after 42 years being a leather cutter. Almost every President wears their shoes as well as movie stars. I have a pair of their dress shoes that has lasted over ten years.

What are your thoughts on neats foot oil? I’ve only ever shined dress shoes, my work boots get oiled and conditioned after a cleaning.
@JasonDornstar6 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried that yet. Some guys will throw wax on anything. I think conditioned leather lasts longer, but waxes help to protect the leather. It's a fine balance that takes an artistic approach. 😉
@opforind6 жыл бұрын

Now I'm stuck with a dark spot that wont seem to go away. Any tips of evening this our? Would you recommend finely sanding this and recoloring w cream? Please please help!

Question....that white foamy stuff...why don't you coat the whole shoe then wipe it off? Can it not stay on the shoe for long??
@ahf54716 жыл бұрын
Scott one of the worst things you can do to leather boots or shoes, especially good quality ones not covered in layers of cheap polypropylene finishes is to oversaturate them in liquid. The saddle soap you speak of will remove the natural oils and fats and natural man made crud that protect the leather from moisture. Depending on how the leather is finished leaving it on too long will saturate the leather to the core. You don’t want that.

Hi Jason, I asked you a few days ago about what I should do with boots that are not worn often and do not need polish but might be drying out, you recommended a cream, the boots are red wing and wolverine 1000 mile mostly, is there a brand of cream you think would be best, also when it is time to polish that product too. Thanks, you the man, Pete
@JasonDornstar5 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete! Sorry for the delayed response. There’s a cream from a company called “Skidmoores” and they make a good leather cream with beeswax in it. I’ve used it to achieve a deep conditioning but it won’t shine. There’s also some oiled leather cream from Saphir if you want the good stuff.🤙
