Hey Jaren, I just found your channel and watched almost all your videos. You've given me a lot of ideas for what I can do on a small scale urban farm. I'm definitely going to get some quail soon and get the space to grow microgreens. Hope to see some new videos soon, cheers! Blessings to your family.

How big of a tote do you think we should get if we only have 8 eggs? And how long does it usually take for eggs to hatch? We lost our last female last night to the racoon. I thought I had her barricaded pretty well so they couldnt get to her. Guess not. So.... on to the eggs. Hopefully being refrigerated won't bother them too much and we'll soon have some babies! Thank you for the video!

I would get the big ones that are about $20 at Walmart. That way they have plenty of room all thr way to maturity. And then you have a spare housing option if you have an injured bird later. And you'll have space for them to get put from under the heat lamp as chicks. Look at my video "Cheap and Simple Brooder".

Keep the QUAILITY content going! It's good stuff. Please make a DIY Quail cage, similar to those you had in your older videos, thank you.

Hi. I've watched your videos and am ready to raise quail chicks. Where can I order them and get the chicks in the mail? I thought this would be simple but it's proving a challenge. Appreciate any help. Thanks!

What are the major differences between bobwhites and coturnix?
@UrbanAviary7 жыл бұрын
Bobwhites are powerful flyers and only lay seasonally.

Should their food be mixed with water and made into a mush for a little while or are they ok with the dry crumbles?
@UrbanAviary7 жыл бұрын
They do just fine with dry.
@UrbanAviary7 жыл бұрын
Wait, you said crumbles. They need a mash. Crumbles are too big for them to eat. Getting them wet may help with crumbles but I've honestly never tried.
@awesomepak80847 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I'm talking about mash. People down here say crumbles and mash for the same thing. But I understand which one you mean. Sorry for the confusion 😜 lol

How many square feet do bobwhite quail need as adults?
@UrbanAviary7 жыл бұрын
I'll be honest, I'm not super familiar with Bobwhites. I would suspect they would do better in an aviary environment.

Urban Aviary how many square feet do you give your quail?
@UrbanAviary7 жыл бұрын
A half a square foot per bird doesn't bother me a bit. I'll do more sometimes even.

What if a bad egg explodes all over the baby chicks?
@UrbanAviary5 жыл бұрын
I've had thousands of eggs and I've never had that happen. and if it did I don't know that I'd be all that worried about it. Other than that mess and smell. If we let what ifs rule our life then we'd never get out of bed in the morning.

@@UrbanAviary I also don't have a brooder set up, does a CFL light do the trick?
@UrbanAviary5 жыл бұрын
I sell them and ship them on my website, theurbanaviary.com
@UrbanAviary5 жыл бұрын
What is CFL? I just use a brooder lamp, you can get them on Amazon for pretty cheap. I use a ceramic heat bulb
