Liked and subscribed. I just picked up a WP PVS14, and my only experience is with issued beat to shit PVS 7s. I wear a corrective prescription insert in my ballistic eyepro to fix my nearsightedness... is there a diopter setting that I should be using to account for the insert? I ask because things up close are very blurry and I am trying to figure out passive aiming. Thanks.

Do you adjust both tubes to infinity or do you adjust one infinity and one up close?

never split focus. It ruins the purpose of having dual tubes.

So I don't need glasses with my nods with diopters? Or yes keep my glasses on?

I'm adjusting one tube at a time to perfection. And then when I open both eyes at once everything is blurry... what am I doing wrong.

Why adjust to infinity?

The further out the focus the more deviation in the depth of field that your NVGs can handle. At infinity, guys only 20 yards away still look pretty damn clear. However the inverse is not the same. If you focus your NVG's at 24-36inches to see a lock mechanism, just the movement of your head forward or backward a couple of inches will throw the target object completely out of focus and heaven forbid some shit kicks off down the hall and you look down there to see what the commotion is about, the image will be so distorted that you might not even be able identify friend from foe down the hallway.

So what do you do if you need to focus close in? Reason I ask is because my SWAT team has single tube pvs14's that we're starting to play with, and focusing to infinity when we're about to go inside a residential building seems counter productive if most of what I'm looking at is within ten feet.

Kurt, the answer to your question is too in depth to cover here and potentially gets into TTPs I won't put out on the internet. If your team is thinking of using NV operationally for anything other than perimeter duties or approaches, you NEED to find some grant money and bring in an NV trainer to assist you with the development of your NV program. A locker with a few sets of 1033 NVGs does not an NV capability make.....

@@presscheckconsulting3449 I hear that. Perimeter/approach is primarily what we use them for now. Us younger guys on the team are trying to find a way to get ir laser/ illuminators and work our way up to being NV operational if needed but unfortunately money doesn't grow on trees. I do want to say thank you for everything you and your peers do for us masses online. It's greatly appreciated.

@@KR-bn4bg Yeah man, it sucks. NV capability is a great tool for a tac team, but the investment in time and money is simply out of reach for most agencies. I wish I could snap my fingers and change that reality. You and your mates deserve every advantage in the execution of your sworn duties. You men hold a special place in my heart for your efforts.
