Andrei Tîrzilă Learn Solfege and practice singing and matching notes with the major Scale. Practice every day. I do not have a pleasing voice but I did train my voice to hit notes accurately. Never drink milk before singing too or caffeine drinks, only water. Make use of instruments by matching pitches. Lots of tips on KZbin.

Yeah we both use dunlop jazz iii picks. He likes the purple ones with the sharpened point and I like the tortex 1.14mm ones. Definitely give em a shot, it's an adjustment for sure but I love them.

Watch the How to Practice Arpeggios video before this video. This video's lesson is simple, but useful. While on the same string, use alternate picking when moving up a string use an up stroke and when moving down a string use down strokes.

Sean, I'm confused about the advice I've been getting on picking technique. It seems like many instructors are emphasizing alternate picking as we move across the strings. The method you show here, which seems to economize movement, makes sense to me, too. How does one think about applying each technique appropriately?

Hey Sean, I use my pinky to steady my hand when picking like an anchor but I've heard you shouldn't use this method as it slows your picking down, should I change my style or keep it the way it feels comfortable? Please help :)

So there are different schools of thought on this, but my opinion is that you're doing fine. If it's comfortable for you just keep at it! Some of the best and shreddiest players anchor on their pinky.

this isn't good practice. especially for beginners. and very specifically if you're building speed. The term used for this is Economy picking. it good for sweeping. But its similar to disabling the rest of your hand mechanics. Pure alternate picking is better off initially. The picking angle isn't that important, the more important part is to find out what your own hand natural tendencies are while ur picking fast, whether you're a downward pick slanter like yngwie or upward like paul gilbert or both ways. After that you can design ur own arsenal of Picking hand speed techniques. Only way to figure this out is to analyze urself over a couple of weeks.
