All of us have movements that we have been doing for years, sometimes decades, this is why is so difficult to change, and most of the time a new movement make things worst when we first try to do it. We just don't have the right timing and the muzzle memory plays against us. This initial frustration leads us to think that may be a new movement is not good for us and will not bring progress to our game, this is why explanations like the one with the racquet facing down and it's circular movement is so import for us to do not quit to try to change into a new movement, even when it seems not right in the beginning. Great video , as usual.

Ryan, something I think you need to think about. First off, I watch a lot of videos to help me with my game. Yours are among the best I've seen . Very thorough and well presented. I've subscribed to your channel and plan to watch all of your videos. That brings me to the point of the post. While I don't mind watching you shoot videos in your driveway, I think it takes away from the credibility of your work. There's not one other channel I've ever watched that did not shoot their videos on a tennis court. Being involved in marketing, I think that the level of professionalism takes a hit without you being present on a court. I'd love to see your views count go up, and I'm not saying this is the sole reason for it being low, but I think your doing a great job and would like to see you succeed . Keep up the good work, and I'll be watching more either way. Thanks

rsleo61 thank you so much for the support. And I appreciate you saying what you’ve said. Simply put, with COVID and extenuating circumstances my time teaching is very limited right now. The few days I’m able to teach on court I teach from 7am to 6pm straight with no break. The other days I’m home helping my two young kids with virtual schooling. So at the moment I have zero time to film on court. That being said I’m doing my best and atm my best is in my driveway. Otherwise I would’ve be making content at all. As for what other coaches are doing vs me I can’t control that. I also know that when coaches are in my situation they don’t make content. But that doesn’t stop me. I know what I’m teaching is helping people and if standing in my driveway vs on a tennis court doesn’t make people want to listen to me then I can’t control that. Trust me...I’d rather be on a tennis court. But that’s not possible right now. My on court lesson schedule is completely packed and my responsibilities as a husband and father are allowing for it. Thanks for understanding.

Hi coach you should display your name out prominently instead of "2 minute tennis" which BTW is a misnomer. Perfect lesson delivery!

Just to add "hands go up ..legs go down" .. i put it as "hands go right first then up n knees push right".. this is IMO is a intermediate half step to prevent too fast a tossing motion ..

You are awesome. The only one who I have heard on youtube vids talk abt the leg drive timing is Rick Macci. Even he did not have a simple tool like the birthday hat to actually help the player know where they r at wrt the correct timing. I am going to try this on my 10 yr old who has the circular motion right but is struggling with the leg drive timing. She is way too late like you mentioned in the video. This should show her when to trigger the leg drive.

Thank you Ryan, a big fan of your videos. I am actually struggling with my Serve especially getting out of Waiter tray serve and have watched your other video on how to correct it. After watching the Waiter tray serve correction drills, I am watching this. Just a point of confusion and thats where i am facing a huge issue is When do i start coiling with respect to the tossing? A. If i toss and then start the coiling, i am finding myself short on time and therefore losing out on Racket drop B. If I coil and then toss, the toss is becoming erratic. Good luck to you and the channel

Legs provide a large percentage of the speed on the serve. The energy required to go from 90 mph to 110 mph is an increase of 50% as energy is a function of velocity squared. Also, you might want to take a look at Serena’s serve with left arm fully extended and racquet straight down as she takes it back.

Really great explanation. I have 2 questions though. As the non hitting arm goes up when does it toss the ball? From the video it looks like during the coil, however I tried this and the motion of my body made my toss inconsistent. Is that just something I have to overcome? 2nd question if you have a pin point stance when does the legs come together?

Very helpful! Thanks Ryan! A quick question: some say one should be done releasing the toss before bending down, bc otherwise the bending interfere with the toss and the timing becomes more difficulty. How do you feel about that?
@2MinuteTennis3 жыл бұрын
What I’ve noticed is if the player is platform then beginning the knees bending as you release is normal. If pinpoint then toss first then bend.

Hi Coach Ryan, just to have some clarification about the proper drive leg. Is it the same application or technique regardless you have a Flat Form (Foot Back) or Pin Point (Foot-Up) Serve stance? particularly on weight transfer? Thanks

Yes. Same timing with both. The pinpoint stance allows for more cooking but other than that it’s the same.
