Good information. My general advice is don’t obsess over it. Enjoy all that your phone offers. You paid for it. Charge as you need, and if battery health declines before you’re ready for a new phone, you can have the battery replaced.

You are absolutely right. For someone like me changing the phone every couple of years will be kind of hard. So i would like to preserves as much as i can. But i have paid every single feature and using none. That's really sad. 120hz is so smooth to use, as i have enabled low power mode, its turned off too.. I think i should take your suggestion.

Batteries are complex, and their precise capacity can vary. For instance, Apple's "100%" for the 14 Pro Max is 4323 mAh. But due to manufacturing nuances, many batteries end up with an "overcapacity," like 4729 mAh (~109% health). This is why when you drop below 100%, it can feel like opening the "flood gates"-you're just approaching Apple's spec. I work in R&D for a medical company, and we see similar battery capacity variations. It's a bit of a "battery lottery." Side note: Many have noticed the iPhone 14's quicker battery health decline. It's a topic worth investigating further. Your wireless charging point is valid. It can be less efficient than wired. Every 1% delivered through a cable might be 0.8% wirelessly, but with similar wear. This impacts battery longevity. To get a clearer picture, tools like CoconutBattery can reveal if your device began with overcapacity.

Push works a little bit different: when a email reaches the mailbox (and only then), the server (or mail delivery agent) "pushes" it to the app (mail user agent); the bulk of the battery consumption is because the display turns on and not because the email is being pushed to the phone, so the "solution" is in the way one handles the notifications.

Great info ... I adjusted a few settings after your description of what they did - Thank you! I have not had issues with battery life. I have modified charging time ... I do not typically charge overnight. I work from a home office and it is generally convenient to allow battery to drain to 30% and below and then charging as I am working during the day. BUT, I also have an Apple watch (Ultra) so I am not dependent on the phone for calls/messages/emails. Still, I like to keep my phone 2-3 years so understanding battery health is important to me.

I’d like to say that the Battery health in battery settings is a misconception of sorts. It tells you what your battery charges up to even when you think it’s at 100% and sometimes that can be wrong. To find out go to privacy and security and scroll down to Analytics and Improvements (this needs to be on for a few days). Click on that then open Analytics Data. Click on the first Analytics. Then click on the top right with the square and arrow pointing up. In the pop up menu click on PowerUtil Another menu will pop down. Then click allow once. This will give you better info.

I’m a little late, but fast vs slow charging doesn’t affect battery health. Heat is one of the biggest contributing factors, as long as fast charging isn’t generating any extra heat, it’ll degrade at the same rate as slower charging would.

Im just using my battery saving only when I charge. When it automatically turns off, I know my phone is at 80% charge so then I stop charging. Good that iphone 15 has the option to make it stop charging at 80%. Don’t get it why they didn’t add it to older models as it is only software related

Fantastic and very informative video again, thank you so much! To me one of the worst things you can do is actually QI charging. Especially in cars, I'm afraid they are real battery killers. I just updated to a 14Pro and I now refrain from QI chargers and use a good old cable. One question you might be able to give an answer to: I have lots of open tabs in Safari on my iPhone (140) is that as well a battery drainer, or are they only activated when tapping on the tab? Thanks 🙏🏻

Wow, this is an incredibly comprehensive guide! Thanks for taking the time to compile all these battery-saving tips. I'm particularly interested in the "Scheduled Summary" for notifications - that sounds like a game-changer for managing my overwhelming notification overload. I'm curious to hear from other users about their experiences with some of these settings, especially the always-on display. I've been debating turning it off, but I do find the convenience helpful sometimes. Has anyone found a good balance between using always-on display and preserving battery life? Or is it a complete on/off situation? Share your experiences! Also, I'm intrigued by the "Reduce White Point" setting. How noticeable is the color difference at, say, 50% reduction? Is the battery life improvement significant enough to justify the slightly less vibrant display?

I went extreme with this, by creating some automations in Shortcuts to keep Low Power mode on constantly. As such I get 2-3 days between charges on my iPhone SE 3rd gen. And I've not noticed any negative impact for how I use my phone, because I don't want alerts on email receipt. I prefer to check my email only when I'm away from my computer and have the time to do so, so I don't need email activity constantly in the background. I still receive my text Messages as and when they are sent by the other party, so this is the one thing which would have been a deal breaker for me, but thankfully is not a problem with Low Power mode. The Shortcuts automations to achieve this were: 1. When battery falls below 100%, set Low Power mode to ON. and 2. When Low Power mode is turned OFF, set Low Power mode to ON. I also have Shortcuts automations to switch WiFi and Bluetooth OFF when I am away from home and then switch them back on when I am near or at home. I don't use WiFi or Bluetooth outside of home, so why leave those radios ON?

I appear to have a different menu to you when it comes to mobile data mode. I am running IOS 16.5.1(c) on an iphone 13 pro. Is there another setting turned off. It is the section of your video that covers voice and date. There is a lot of the menu I do not appear to have. ( I can send a screen shot if needed and I subscribe to the proper weekly). Hi there. Watched a fewof your videos tonight. Really appreciate the information and have left likes in terms of appreciation. I would like some further information if you would be comfortable to discuss it. Regarding the raise to wake option, I am tempted to leave it on but would be concerned about it frequently activating in my pocket or work bag wasting charge routinely. If you'd have an opinion on that I'd appreciate your thoughts.
