Saw Paul playing in Portlaoise a few months ago and the power and delivery of this song was so amazing. The conviction, the delivery was so intense. What a artist!

Badass!! Steel Claw has been one of my favorite songs of all time since I first heard Tina Turner's cover on Private Dancer in 1984. Epic The most underrated song in Rock n Roll history.

Just saw the 2021 documentary Tina and was reminded of my first cassette ever bought, Private Dancer by Tina Turner. Steel Claw was the most raw, authentic, and touching listen I had on that tape although I had no idea what it said. I still have the same feeling about 40 years later. Thans Paul Brady for this masterpiece!

amazing! Like o so many others I've known and loved wholeheartedly Tina Turner's version, only now finding out who wrote it... and Mr. Brady here gives me goosepimples all over again. What a poet! What a singer and guitarist, too, but man, what a poet!

Like everyone I thought this was a Tina Turner song, and I absolutely loved it. Imagine my shock, surprise, pride when I saw Paul Brady live in San Francisco in the 90's and he says... "and here's a song of mine covered by Tina Turner" I couldn't believe it!! Fantastic.

Well I just heard this for the first time and it was Tina's version, with the legs and that little dress; but I knew she couldn't have written it so I found this. Never heard of him either! But this is fantastic! The guitar; the Lyrics. Tina's version is great but I got bored by the middle and stopped watching: it's just about her beauty and sexiness. I don't know. I like this version better.

is there some specific meanin to the "steel claw" or is it just what it sounds like - something to hold you in check with steely rigidity?
@Timtube735 жыл бұрын
Ann Dettmar When I was a kid and first heard this song, I couldn’t make out all the lyrics but I thought it might be about abortion. Many years later when I actually found the LYRICS, the song struck me as a very strong rebuke of society’s hypocrisy and classist tendencies, how poverty is a steel claw that holds people back and oppresses them. It’s a powerful song that makes you think and feel... and I’m hopelessly in love with it.

hi, I've just discovered yesterday this incredible acoustic version by the original composer, and I'm so happy !! such strength and authenticity, Wahoo ! Answering to your post, Loch a' Doirin, you can find chords on the ultimate guitar website, but in this wonderful version, I'm almost sure that Paul tuned his guitar in CGDGBD (wich should be an Open G/C Add4 tuning) with, as you can see, a capo on 2nd fret.

Paul would have got so much further if he stuck to the melody rather than overusing thar annoying rising inflection in his singing, which irritates the tits off me, in my opinion.

There's no such thing as a bad version of Steel Claw. Just different ones. It's what rock should be...edgy, in your face lyrics that make you think, hard driving beat, and great riffs. What more could you want?

It’s all good, all beautiful-and very relatable to the times. 💕🌸
