Nice one! To further enhance the "vinyl feeling" on this: Go to bank b Set LFO 2 to: random wave Destination: noise Amount: 4 Frequency 140-ish This will make it more crackling :)

Good tip! You can also assign audio out - > Cutoff in the mod matrix and turn up velocity to add more digital noise when you play louder. Sounds a bit different from using the white noise.

@@PeterBraymusic Great idea! I've been playing around with assigning the audio out to various things recently. I feel like it gives it a 'less digital' feel. Thanks for the contribution!

I've searched youtube for weeks looking for demos of the synth that would remotely come close to sounds I'd actually create, and this is it. We definitely need more reviews demos from people that know how to sound design with taste (especially for genres like these). Cheers, man. This video actually helped me make that purchase

I tried Hoffalompen and Alex Moore's (in the comments) suggestions for the noise modulation. Both really add to the effect of randomizing the noise to get more of a vinyl effect. I was doing some additional fiddling and I changed Alex M's suggestion of the second LFO modulating the effects mix and instead had that LFO modulating FXParam2. Using a triangle wave gives you that circular motion of the record spinning, kind of a noisy wobble as if the record was slightly warped. Excellent sound and video. Thanks everyone.

So cool! Please continue such videos, man! I did that patch - the explaining speed was excellent. I just added some aftertouch vibrato (as I almost always do). Best part for me: Reverse use of the Aux Envelope for that slide-up effect! I was searching for something like this, since the Nord Lead A1 that I used to have had that function within the LFO section.

So great to hear you liked it :) I usually add aftertouch on aswell to patches (usually stack vibrato and open the cutoff filter a tiny bit) just wish that every synth had aftertouch haha! We are spoilt with options with the Prophet!

Very well done!! I just recreated it and love it, also tried the LFO to the noise as suggested in the comments, and a slight slow lfo to the effects mix to let more or less white noise through. Could you also tell me what chords you've been playing throughout?? especially at the end there? Many thanks!! Subbed to your channel, stoked to hear more.

Amazing! So glad you like it! In terms of the chords I was playing I think the bit from 6:38 was: Dminor9 , Bb7add9add13 , Amajor7add9 , A7 add b9 with C# in the bass , then to finish Dminor 9 again. Then the bit from 7:15 was: Dminor9 , Cmajor7 , Bminor7add13 , Amajor7add9 , then back to Dminor 9. Hope that helps!

Awesome tutorial thank you, just got mine, how do you save a new modified program preset under a new name, from an original sound factory preset, without overwriting or losing the original sound? Many thanks
@alexthompson42004 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it! On the rev2 there are 8 banks to choose from. Four are labeled 'F' for factory and four are labeled 'U' for user (I think). I keep the factory banks exactly as they come and if I have modified a sound I like I then write it in but save it under the one of the user banks instead (when you press the write button you can use the bank knob to switch over). Hope this helps? Let me know if you need any more info :)

Thanks for this tutorial :) So this means now the amount of voices is halved since you layer? So on a rev2-8 you could only play 4 keys at a time right? I just try to figure out, if I take the 8 or 16 voice version :)
@bryanpope60694 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, thanks for the tutorial. Great sound! I just got a Rev 2 and tried making this sound following your guide. Are you using the 8 or 16 voice Rev2? I have the 8 voice version, and I was noticing an issue when playing some more dense chords that my low notes seem to not trigger or get dropped. For example on a Dm9, I'll be playing a D in the bass, then add FACE at the top, but the D goes silent after adding in the higher 4 notes. Have you ever experienced something like this?
@alexthompson42004 жыл бұрын
Hey Bryan, I'm using the 16 voice version. Interesting to hear your problem. I've had that same issue aswell at times although I haven't looked into it too much to be able to resolve it. I'll try and do some testing to see if I still have the same problem but my best advice would be to email Sequential and see if they can help. You could also try using the split feature and making the same patch on A and B and see if it keeps all the notes? Let me know how it goes though!
@bryanpope60694 жыл бұрын
@@alexthompson4200 thanks for the reply! I figured out the issue. When you do a split or layer, polyphony is halved, so that is why I couldn’t play larger chord voicings on the 8 voice model when that feature was used. So unfortunately, with the 8 voice, you get 4 voices per A/B layer.
@pajamalamadingdong45243 жыл бұрын
@@bryanpope6069 I have the same issue with voice stealing on the 8 voice as well, especially if I turn up the release on the amp filter. I just dial in a little bit of noise onto voice A and ditch voice B. We don't get the same amount of control over the noise like folks are discussing in this thread, but the ability to play fuller chords and not lose notes is worth it for me.
@DrJ3RK83 жыл бұрын
Nice sound! I'm a bit late in seeing this. One thing you could add is a very small amount of sample and hold on the noise filter. (low pass)
