In reality fasting and a healthy diet need to go hand in hand for a person to truly follow the Sunnah and reap the health and spiritual benefits. So many Muslims fast on Sunnah days but their diet is awful. Fried foods, too much red meat, nowhere near the recommended 10-a-day etc, lack of exercise... And so therefore continue to develop diabetes and other diseases and remain overweight.
