Ah, so cool! I will use your tip on the black part of the mask, as that's the part I have trouble with on my mask! It's just fabric, and tight around my eye (eyelashes pop out, yay). Thanks for making the video!

The piping is just good for making a nice edge in the eyes? I'm going to follow this tutorial because it is the best. I just need to know one thing. Is the piping sewn, so that it is in the middle of the seam on the top of the mask?

Started making one the other day and came across some clay cracking problems- slathering that baby in layers of mod podge after repairing and it seems to be holding together just fine, despite continuous cracking underneath it. Just a heads up as a possibility for anyone looking to make this! Thanks for the tut man :) Two Deadpools gonna look even better at PAX !

just tried my hand at the sculpting side. Not the best effort, but it will do to add a bit of texture. tried to add the single wide eye stare for something different, will just have to wait for it to dry before I get a good idea to see if it will work. picked up black with red stitching motorcycle skins that will work perfect for the look I'm going for

If only I was good enough to sew them in mass quantities, I'd definitely sell them. But I'd make to much mistakes and wouldn't feel good about selling messed up masks.

cool video!!!!! I was thinking of making a deadpool mask using the same method as you with the start of the mask but for the fabric i was wondering what you think about using a kid's spiderman mask with the eye cut out and putting the mask underneath it. Please, it would mean alot :D

That's a good idea, some people use hard shells sorta like that under their masks to keep to cool shape in tact.

Yaa Finished mine! about 40 of the views on here are me just coming back and forth to look at things as i was going through the process. My head is football shapped so it had to be 30% tall, but skinner, so i had alot of extra stuff left over in the back. After some adjustments i got it looking cherry. Still need to do the white in the eyes, but i'm liking it alot the way it is. wayneweigel Instead of clay i used Delight Air Dry Modeling compound. It was very light weight. It's hardened stage feels almost like a spongy Styrofoam. This worked out nice for me, because the glue wasn't sticking between the spandex red and mask. The Delight was so light weight that i was able to sew through it, allowing my to sew the red on the black part of the mask. Had to hand stitch it, but i think it look awesome like this.

What advice do you have towards forming the clay eyes around the mask? It was easy getting the pattern that goes over it since you provided, but I am afraid of not getting the proportions right when making it from clay.

Nicholas West The fabric is pretty stretchy (at least the one I got) so you wouldn't have to worry too much about that. So just go for it.

Look for a black mesh stiff utility fabric! Or dye it from white if that's all you can find.
