Hi and thank you very much for this video which is really helpful and instructive. About a month ago, I had a hamstring tear in a half marathon race, which made me unable to continue with my running exercises. So I volumed up my swimming exercises instead, including a lot of tough sessions with hand paddles and pullbuoy as I should not have used my legs due to my injury. And guess what? After the second week or so, my left shoulder began to ache very badly. I went to see a sports medicine doctor and he told me that I had biceps tendinitis due to overload! :-/ Now it is recovering slowly but probably I will not be able to swim for at least some 4-6 weeks. Obviously I would love to get back to swimming as soon as the pain is gone but I think it would be a fatal mistake to begin where I had left it before the injury. So, I think these exercises should help and prevent from reinjury. Obviously, I would highly appreciate any other advice from your side! Thank you very much again and hope you upload more videos related to swimming injuries and rehab! All the best from Turkey

Used to swim a lot in high school. Stopped for many years and started again about a month and a half ago. We never do any pre-pool exercises, just some swimming warm-up. Now I have terrible pain in my left shoulder which I feel goes down to the top of my upper arm when I do the rotation in freestyle. The pool is going to be closed for renovation for a few months. Will the pain go away by itself or should I undergo physiotherapy? Thanks. 🏊♀️

We'd recommend doing the exercises in this video everyday to strengthen the smaller muscles in your shoulders. It doesn't need to be long - 10 mins is long enough

Great video mate, should I do all of these before and after a swim workout? Or should i do them at other times? Im upping my volume to 30km a week atm and trying to prevent swimmers shoulder

Definitely do these exercises before getting in the pool. And it's always good to do them before doing gym work or any land based exercises

Has anyone experienced any shoulder injuries from repetitive swimming movements?
@0tispunkm3y3r4 жыл бұрын
Yes in both! Hurt the right one gardening. Took a while to fix, but later the left one completely went. I think I injured it in the gym. Took a year to get it back to normal. I think both were due to shoulder muscle imbalances? ( I.e. shoulders tending to slide forwards all the time, rounding the back). Right one is playing up again and was exasperated by working from home and having a poor desk setup! Its improved since I went to work to collect my dock and monitors. But still get horrible twinges if it gets into an awkward position.
