The Miroki robot is cute but the wheel design makes it look like it always has to be in motion to balance.

I guess they figured a ball was easier to program for movement but I don’t see that strategy working out in the long run.

Flying cars, just what we need. I don't think that's going to take-off. As for landing a helicopter in my country in a public space, you need a ground crew to keep the public away. And a fire crew. One medical helicopter landed near me. Great show, the person involved was carried to hospital and alledgedly survived. BTW, my car looked like the cars in I, Robot.

The primary problem I see with all VTOL type machines I've seen presented is that they all have unguarded propellers with would be a major safety problem, especially for young children that may accidentally get too close to the blades. Hope are take that into consideration before release for public purchase or use.

Re. the electric aircraft v. humanoid robots question: my money's on humanoid robots. As a qualified commercial drone operator I know how much paperwork goes into even flying a medium (over 250g) drone in a built-up area, and how hazardous it would be if drones were permitted to be more widely used by less qualified people and the airspace over built-up areas became congested, let alone machines weighing over 1/4 tonne. Humanoid robots on the other hand, have a use case for "picking" and "stacking" in warehouses because they don't need a custom designed environment to work in (as robots with wheels and a wide base do for example) and can use tools and devices designed for humans.

The present strategy progressing to human potential within the world of this future couldn't be clearer could it?? No problem if you're struggling to think of what I mean, in that case you're right on track. As it would appear the future plan is to have the entire population as non-thinking slush brains. No difficulty to life then, though furthering possible progression can only mean less freedoms in life. How we have such percival of advancement when individual human intelligence is not seen to be of forthcoming importance!!

The Miroki bot is small, which means it has a limited battery life, and maintaining an upright stance on a ball the entire time it's turned on is a waste of power. Cool, but stupid.

All I am seeing is ways to get robots in peoples homes. It’s too intrusive. People aren’t going to trust privacy. As it is our phones listen to everything whether we like it or not. Now they want something mobile in your home? The bots would need to be stand alone systems not something tied to a corporate network through WiFi. Any AI would have to be limited AI. Function capability would need to be more specific to the need rather than broad. The more broad the robot capabilities the less people will want that thing in their home. Especially if it can be remotely hacked through WiFi and controlled. The best robot idea i have seen to date is the one thats a kitchen chef. Cooks any meal and even does the dishes. The whole thing is contained to the kitchen. Whats to hack or put the family in any danger? Affordability is the only issue for most.
