Mine has 227,000 and runs perfect. If they have been taking care of the last forever. Also canned soda or the smaller mini cans fit perfect into the center console hha

What sucks is I know people can make these fast too even in FWD form especially since Chris Hill is still has the fastest FWD 3/S to this day. I'm sure it would be fairly the same as modding a VR4 minus the extra 600+ lbs. If you have a chance, also take a look at Great Depression Racing's channel as he builds the SOHC 12V that is in his Duster which is also the same as the 12V these base models come with after 97 and up. Good video

$2500???Dude... do not sell it for that low... you’ve worked so hard on it and have fixed up so well. Just fix the paint job. So those idiots like it. They don’t know what makes a car good. They only care about shiny paint. Keep it if it won’t even sell for $5000. I bought my base model for $6000 and I thought that was a steal. There are 3000GTs (not vr4) with twice as many miles and not half as well kept as mine was for $14,000. Only junkers go for $2500. You got yours for $1000. That’s what I would pay for a project. Fix the paint job and sell it for min $5000 or keep it. These are sexy cars man. I get head turns everywhere I go. I love that man! everyone that turns their head when you drive, deep down, wants that car. $5000 is the price for a 2014 Corolla... dude... do not let that thing go for less than a used Corolla 😂!!!! Would you rather have a Corolla or a 3000GT??? Easy ass decision man. Put that in your ad.

Found an 1995 sl with 62k miles and bought it for $2k. It has a fuel issue, i also need to do the 60k tune. So, while i do the 60k tune, ima go ahead and upgrade a few things while keeping it na. Stock its at like 222hp, Id like to make 250hp from mostly simple upgrades. I wanna keep it reliable at the end of the day and dont wanna take the engine apart for bigger upgrades
@DadbrosGarageАй бұрын
I agree. I wouldn't do much unless it was a VR4
@dnegel95463 жыл бұрын
Personally i would just try and restore it to OEM spec and if im going to keep it i would get a macco paint job and just enjoy it as a daily. It would probably be easier to sell as well. These are nice cars.. They dont age at all.

Here in CA you see SL's for 2-3k and vr4's for 5-7k. I'm looking at vr4's as a secondary car to the evo but all i hear are horror stories about trying to work on them.
@maverickcheston88743 жыл бұрын
It’s not that bad, it helps if you get a GT that’s 96 or newer cause they are OBD2 and you can use an OBD2 code scanner to help pinpoint where any issues are. The older models have OBD1 and those aren’t as specific with what can be the issue, then you have to use general automotive knowledge to track down the issue

What I'm getting from the comments is that maintenance is the most important thing to keep these cars running. Currently looking at a 91 GTO. Apart from regular oil changes, what are the other things to look out for as far as engine maintenance?

yeah man i would say if you are ready for the next project either go all in and get that paint looking good and sell for 4 to 5. But, otherwise start pulling it apart and selling the parts.. i feel like there is a good market for the parts. The seats, doors, fenders, rims could go for 2,500. Its more work to part out but you could def make your money plus some. I almost decided to do that with mine before fixing it. I would also throw that dude on ebay, get it out to a wider audience. Don't feel bad about being ready to work on the next thing! If you ain't moving forward, you're moving backwards!
@DadbrosGarage3 жыл бұрын
OMG I couldnt pull it apart after all that work. I would be worried that someone else might do it too. Might just keep it til the politicians give us money again and get the VR-4 engine.

Yes and no. They are the same block. But the heads are different, you get lower compression pistons for the vet and oil squirters. You can build the engine with vet parts easily though.
