I’d like to know more about the cybersecurity issues being a disadvantage to EHR.

I would say they are a consideration but compared with other security issues relevant with paper records, cyber access is more easy to identify and stop as soon as it’s discovered. It’s also easier to track what may have happened and who is responsible.

I am in the process of transitioning to an EHR as we speak as I open my new practice in the next week. I'm going to use Office Ally for billing but I do not care for their EHR. I'm leaning towards Therapy Notes but I'm curious what others experiences have been with TN. Is there another EHR I should look at? Thanks!

Hi Clint, I usually recommend Simple Practice or Therapy Partner. Lots of people like Therapy Notes but they (currently) have limited ability within their client portal and don't allow you to create your own note templates (which is a HUGE benefit you're missing out on). But try it out and see what you think!

Any thoughts about TheraNest? They seem comparable to Simple Practice. The mobile aspect seems conducive to getting things done fast? Thoughts?

They are VERY similar to Simple Practice. SP also has a lot of mobile capability, including dictating your notes over the phone, which many therapists have told me saves them tons of time writing notes. I say to sign up for both with their free trial and see what you like best. They also have different pricing models so depending on where you're at, one may make more sense than another.

I heard with eHR they have high fees per claim.. is this true? what eHR has lower fees per claim?

Most are very reasonable, especially considering how much easier it is to do all the billing and claims! However, that's a definitely a question to ask when choosing your EHR :)
