We (Frank and family) lived on base for 3 years in 29 Palms and enjoyed it. The City of 29 Palms has some exciting things planned. See their City Plan for 2045. There is a screenshot of the envisioned downtown at 9:49 of this video - lots of restaurants, outdoor amphitheater already opened, shopping, etc. to be more of a destination town rather than a remote town surrounding the Marine base. The area is projected to grow a lot!

Twentynine is a hidden gem for people needing affordable housing in Southern California! I relocated out here from Chattanooga Tennessee because the cost of housing & living is basically the same, which couldn’t be said for hardly anywhere else in California.

Im looking to move out there for that exact reason. Is there really as many jobs/careers nearby or within the city as this video says?

When I lived there there were no two storey houses except for the base housing, and there were only 14,000 people. I remember watching a lot of murals getting painted, like the one with the airplane and the guy's face by Tim O'Connor who was my sister's best friend's dad and our families would BBQ and camp and stuff, also knew Terry Waite, he was my mom's friend, he made some really cool metal sculptures. I liked living there, but I like everywhere I've lived except South Carolina, like many my dad was stationed there as he was a surgeon in The Navy so we were only there for three years. I hope it stays small and remote out there.

I spent time in 29 Palms ' '85-'88, Trip to Big Bear was my favorite motorcycle outing back then.

what about commodities like doctors offices , dentist, hospital, homedepot or lowes and more ?

Military families typically use base medical, dental. Otherwise, it's likely you'd be using facilities in Yucca Valley, though 29 Palms seems to be open to growth and perhaps that will come someday. See the City's plans on their website.
