Great video and spot on! I live in Charter Colony near the "The Village of Midlothian" and we love it here. The biggest con to Midlo is definitely the tolls if you want a fast commute downtown. When I have to drive downtown for work, I pay 3 tolls each way and it's almost $4.50 a day!

@@SdotMAULER From your first comment it sounds like you are looking at a house to rent, but if you are thinking about buying it please be on the lookout for signs of settlement issues. Check above the doorways and windows to cracks in the drywall, the slab in the garage (if there is one), and along the foundation. If you are renting it's less critical, but if buying definitely be on the lookout for those items. Repairing a foundation and stopping further settlement is not cheap.

The vast majority of our relocation clients end up choosing the Midlothian area to purchase within. Midlothian provides a better blend of compromises between bang for buck for the real estate and excellent nearby amenities and commute times. Reach out to us if you have any questions we can answer. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Are there any new apartments in midlothian I will be moving to Richmond for work and I like this area but I’m unsure if getting an apartment here is a good idea.
@LivingInRichmondVirginia3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Midlothian is a great place to live whether you are buying or renting. There are some nice apartments and the area is really safe too. Look into zip codes 23112, 23113, 23114. They are all very nice.

Hi and thanks making this video. Love this area and thinking about moving. However I'm going to be required to commute into Arlington. Is it doable from ?Midlothian and if not, can you suggest another area that has lake access to kayak and running/biking trails?
@LivingInRichmondVirginia3 жыл бұрын
Well anything is possible right, it all just depends on your threshold and tolerance for a commute. If you are only driving to Arlington once a week or a handful of times every month I would pick to live wherever you really want/where you feel called to live, but if you are driving into Arlington most days of the week that drive from Midlothian would get old very fast. So let's say you have to drive more often I would choose somewhere further north to minimize the drive time. If you are determined to live near a lake and need to be closer to Arlington look up Lake Caroline & Lake Land'Or. Those are not in Richmond they are practically halfway between Richmond and Fredericksburg but they could be a good fit. The other flavor of compromise would be find an area to live that isn't too far from Arlington and isn't too far from a place to go kayaking & biking trails (immediately the James River Park system comes to mind). Let us know if we can be of any further assistance!

Are there any neighborhoods in/near Midlothian that are highly walkable (but not in downtown Richmond)?
@LivingInRichmondVirginia3 жыл бұрын
Tarrington on the James you could walk to the river front park but not necessarily to shops or anything else. Winterfield Park could be walkable but your options are still relatively limited. There are restaurants and grocery stores within the community but still nothing like living downtown/within the city. There are only a few suburb communities that I can think of that are walkable with nearby amenities. West Broad Village, Green Gate (both in Short Pump), and Rutland (in Mechanicsville) top my list.

Hello! Thanks for sharing. I currently live & work in Fxbg Va. I work for a hospital here that I can transfer out there to Chippenham Hospital. Considering moving to Midlothian I have a 8yo and I see Swift creek, Thelma Crenshaw & Woolridge Elementary seem to be decent schools. Could you do a tour of those areas?
@LivingInRichmondVirginia3 жыл бұрын
Check out our best neighborhoods in Moseley video -> that one will show you the Hull St (rt 360) area. And also check out our Affordable Neighborhoods Of Midlothian video. And lastly watch our tour of Midlothian video 1st half. All of those together should do a pretty good job of showing you the area and what to expect to find. Thanks for watching!

For a single 33 year old guy that loves being outside, socializing, and being active. Do you recommend Midlothian or Short Pump?
@LivingInRichmondVirginia28 күн бұрын
I don't think there is a wrong answer here, but possibly there is an answer that could be better than the other. I have a feeling that Short Pump's age demographic may be skewed higher by a few years, but that is just a gut feeling. I love all that Short Pump has to offer, but Midlothian is a very close 2nd in terms of commercial amenities (they are just more spread out). Midlothian would put you closer to the River and the James Park River System so that could be a factor to consider. And I would be willing to be that Midlothian will be a little bit cheaper compared to Short Pump. And lastly with all of that said, Midlothian & Short Pump are only 15-20 minutes apart so it's not the end of the world if you have to drive across the river to visit whichever place you don't live in.

Is Midlothian a diverse place? We are an interracial couple...

I am sure there are rotten apples located in good areas everywhere. Richmond,and it's surrounding areas, are a cultural melding pot and very diverse. While I haven't had the same life experiences that you have had, I don't believe you will have any issues of the sort here.

Are there snakes everywhere in this area? Serious question, lol
@LivingInRichmondVirginia3 жыл бұрын
Hmmmm, I have shown TONS of houses in this area and I haven't seen any snakes while doing so, and I have only had a few snake skins show up in a crawl space during a home inspection but those situations were all out in the country. So while I can't say 100% Midlothian is snake free, it is definitely not a problem that plagues the area.
