After living in Seattle 30+ years, I'm glad I escaped. It's a great city to build a career. Unless you are uber rich it is not the place to be retired in. Most people in Seattle are not from Seattle, and most of them don't plan on staying in Seattle. That creates an apathy towards the long term health of the community in regards to its politics and infrastructure.

Yo, I’m a lifelong California resident, live about an hour east of Sacramento and starts to get dark around 4:30 in the winter, so not much difference tho. However during the winter season it may get as high as mid 60°s, but that is only about 15% of the winter season.

I'm sorry friend. Your kids will never be able to wander out @ night. You think it's because houses cost too much. In reality it's drug addicts who are paid tax dollars to terrorize your family. I'm 30 minutes away & see it too. Not as bad here yet... but in 1991 I walked pioneer square at night as a highschooler. Was safe.
