As an Egyptian who has lived her entire life in NY, I can honestly say that YOU HIT TH NAIL ON THE HEAD with the cons. I have spent every summer in Egypt for the past 30 years and I can honestly say that nothing has changed for the better. I still love it and consider myself to be more Egyptian than American but it makes me sad to see it not live up to its potential.

But what I will say is that you should try to educate them on the importance and virtue of seeking knowledge, also the reward of the parent of the child that memorizes the quran and who is righteous. Bring them evidence from quran and sunnah that will encourage them to want to support you in that. It also may benefit you to try to get someone who they respect their opinions to try and convince them. May Allah give you success. Seek knowledge wherever you are tho bro. Hope this helps.

Wa alaikum assalam. That's great to hear! I would say yes, it is safe and you should go. I don't know any Christians personally who have traveled there to study. However, I have heard about some doing that and having no issues. Many of them studied at an arabic institute called Fajr Institute. Also, there aren't only Muslims living in Egypt. There are many Christian communities there as well. And it doesn't seem to be any major conflict between the two religions there. But this is only from my perspective, so I would advise you to do a bit of research yourself before going. I hope this helps give you some guidance in that regard.

السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته Only thing is you that are paying a bit to much rent 400$ is like 20.000K egp it’s way to high and I guess you are living in Nasr city, bare in mind the minimum salary is a round 5k to 10k so nobody gonna pay 20k rent, that’s unfortunately because they knew you where American, so my humble advice don’t djust approach those simsar’s directly but go with someone who has been living there or better with a Egyptian you can trust, I been living here for 3 years almost and I pay around 5-7k now the prices went up but in nice areas like new Cairo El Rehab you pay 10-15 K.. and the other point is be careful in wat Merkez you study the language because it’s a mix with different sects like Hizbi’s etc go to the maraakiz who are known like merkez al Furqan or the Merkez of Shayk Khaled in New Caïro. And the Shayk also gave as advice don’t djust focus on the language but also combine it with aqieda if you can.. That’s djust my humble advice. بارك الله فيكم
