Does It Affect Weight In Any Way? I took the shot and it dramatically made me gain weight. I went from a size 1 to a size 5. I didn't continue

Linda, the patch should not make you gain weight, though every woman is different. The shot is KNOWN for giving women the munchies and weight gain.

Does the patch work immediately I put it on or should I wait for maybe few weeks before it start working.

If you start it on your period, it should start working within 3 days. But to be safe, I'd use backup for 1 month.

The implant is a good option though most doctors would recommend the IUD with hormone over the implant. The implant only lasts for 3 years and has more systemic (all over body) effects vs. the IUD with hormone which lasts 7 yrs and has more local (just uterus) effect.

Unlikely, because the patch even more estrogen and those effects might be from the estrogen. However, there are 8 different progesterones. So tell your doctor you do NOT like the progesterone in your pill and tell her the NAME of the progesterone and she can try you on 7 other progesterones. Or you could try the ring, or IUD with hormone or implant...

It’s a very effective method. 99.999% prevents pregnancy. It just sometimes results in heavier bleeding and more cramps. If you don’t usually feel your periods, then this is a good option. If you feel your periods a lot, then maybe not.

How long before we can have intercourse after starting the patch?

Depends when you start it. If you start it on your period, it should work within 24 hrs. If you start it NOT on your period, then wait 7days or use condoms. But to be absolutely safe, 1 month would be best. and in general, we always recommend using condoms to prevent sexually transmitted infections. and just because then the woman doesn't have to drip secretions for 24 hours after intercourse.

Hi I’m on the patch & nope it did not make me gain weight. Instead, I lost a bit of weight cos I didn’t have much appetite on my 1st week of using the patch

What if I am on my 1st week cycle (my patch change days are sundays) and I barely remembered to change it 1.5 days later on 5am on tuesday? That's technically not 2 days since sometimes on a sunday I dont remember to change it till midnight or 3 am at the latest. If I remember good, my earliest I change it is around 8 or 10pm on sunday. Would I still be okay to have my patch change days on a sunday? I rarely forget to do this, this happens like once in a blue moon. Please let me know. Thank you! 💕🙏😭 also I've been on the patch for like 4 years.

Pandia Health would NOT recommend the patch for anyone concerned about blood clots. The patch has a HIGHER amount of estrogen available and thus higher risk for clot. Ask your doctor about what would be good for perimenopause. For mood, you might want to consider an antidepressant. Please keep in mind that this is a suggestion only and not a substitute for medical advice that you would get from your doctor. Your doctor has your health record and would be able to evaluate you more thoroughly than we would be able to.
