At least there WAS a commuter bus that ran from Germantown to the Shady Grove Station & it was cheap. I haven't lived there since 2012, so I don't know if it still runs, but I bet it does. A lot of people used it, so maybe. I thought that was a big pro. One line of these commuter buses went to BWI for $5! You can't drive to BWI for $5. That is a pro for sure (& you can come back from BWI the same way for $5).

She's money. I lived in Germantown from age 14 to 24 and to get to anywhere it's a drive and traffic usually comes with that as a bonus ...and this was back in the 80's early 90's so it's probably much worse now. Cost of living was crazy back then as my gf and I were paying almost $1000 for a 1 bath 2bd apt. I brought my lil family down from Ohio to visit Germantown and it's so weird how much it has changed. The forestry is much more dense now then it was back then. Bugs didnt bother me much as I had lived in Florida prior to moving to Germantown. The diversity? Ummm, I thought there was much more Vietnamese & Arab/Indian flava then there was any other. Still a fun little town thats not lil anymore.
