I think it’s so beautiful how everything is perfectly integrated into nature, signs all have muted colors, at night you have a feeling of safety as you can go back to your home nestled away amongst the trees. I just can’t explain how cool it feels there it’s just unique

We have spent February and March on HH since 2013, but because of pandemic, have had to skip this year. Hope to go next year though. Sounds like the traffic is far worse when we aren't there. Have rented at Beach and Tennis. Condos are small but just fine for us. Walk the beach every day. Weather can be cool at times but definitely nicer than our home (Nova Scotia). Love the sushi at Kroger and the ribs at Bullies. Also breakfasts at Palmetto Bay Sunshine Cafe or at Stacks.

Wintertime is our favorite time on the Island. You're right! The traffic is not bad at all in February/March. Even in the summer it's not horrible when compared to other areas and with the expansion of the bridge, it will improve.

One other pro of HH Island is most of the residential areas are in gated communities. Each community generally has a wide range of amenities specific to that community.

Yes, everything you said is true. You did forget to mention that the drugs are huge in the area, alcohol consumption is unreal. Too many car accident's with fatalities. Too many people are driving without license and insurance. People drive on the roads like if they where hiways.

Hi Deborah! I am so sorry you feel that way. I can assure you that we help many people understand the area and are very happy that we can share what we've learned. I know when we first moved here six (almost 7) years ago it was very difficult to find information. Especially since we were moving from out of state. It's scary when you decide to uproot your entire life, leave family and friends, and begin a new chapter. We have helped people both move to the area and we have helped people decide the area is not right for them. At the end of the day our only intention is to assist people in understanding the area better.

Living In Bluffton South Carolina The title implies your focus is on the pros and cons. In reality, the focus is growing your business. And there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with that. I would suggest you change the title of the video to reflect the true focus and include the name of your business, with the pros and cons as a side note. I live on Hilton Head Island, and was curios to know your take on the pros and cons. Im not looking to move, and I’m not looking for a realtor. That’s why I was disappointed in the title. I was expecting a focus on the pros and cons and nothing else. I wish you and your business great success!

A very well done / factual video video, but in order to emphasize our traffic problem...it exists Monday through Friday all year especially coming on to the Island from Bluffton, (East bound Hwy 278), between the hours of approximately 7:30 am to around 9 am...it's a slow moving "parking lot" coming over the bridges and on Saturday's during peak season from 2-3 p.m. to around 6 p.m....forget it! Pack a lunch and use the restrooms in Bluffton BEFORE crossing the bridges, 'cause you're gonna need it! One more thing. Since you've made it to the Island during peak season and it rains and you can't go to the beach, everybody wants to go to Bluffton, (Westbound Hwy 278), and shop at what they call Tanger one and two outlet "malls" and beyond. Be STRONGLY advised that you're going to be sitting in traffic by doing so. Most importantly, we, as Islanders understand that you've paid your GAZILLION dollars to come here for a week, but this does NOT give you the right to think we're slow / stupid Southerners and don't know up from down and come on HHI with an attitude as most of us are former Yankees just like yourself, so PLEASE park your arrogance before crossing the bridges. I've lived on the Island for 45 years and I've seen it all. Just be nice and we'll be nice right back to you.

Thanks Jim for you comments. You are 100% correct about the traffic and the times of day it occurs. I also agree that when vacationing on the Island it's important to understand our Island is unique. It's not a touristy Island when compared to other areas such as Myrtle Beach. You won't find high rise hotels, public beach bars (except for a couple), or trinket shops that are only open during vacation season. Instead, you will find residential neighborhoods and yearround residents. Many vacationers are staying at timeshares or VRBOs. And, although most are very courteous and respectful there are a few that litter the beaches, disrespect the turtle and sand dollar habitats and leave yearround residents frustrated. What we find is that the people who make Hilton Head home do not bring their former place of residence with them and try to change our area, but instead, become part of our area and adopt the local customs. That is what makes Hilton Head so great! It is a melting pot of people from all over the world, but it is a happy place full of nature, beauty, and friendly people.
