The BIGGEST PRO of a split King, for my wife and I, is that mattress movement between each side (transference) is reduced to almost nothing. As we both move for repositioning, bathroom breaks, etc. , the split king solution keeps us from shaking/waking each other up throughout the night.

Thank you, this is why we want it as well, and I've been trying to find feedback on whether that's actually the case or not since the mattresses would still be against each other.

@@WeyMama Here in the Netherlands it is very common to have different slatted bases or the more modern and actual dish bases ( schotelbodem in Dutch) each adjusted on the prefered firmness, and 2 different matresses in one bed, it can even be different brands as long they have the same thickness. A mattress is very personal. We have this construction with electrical adjustable slatted bases. We have a memory foam splittopper that is absorbing all the movements plus you will have no gap in the middle just like you sleep together on one mattress. No offense, but I am wondering why an advanced country like America is so far behind regarding bedding. I think you guys even don't have the more actual dish bases for sale? I would import it from Europe if I were you. That is a much better and comfortable bed base. I even can't find English spoken video's about it.

My wife and I have two completely different beds, mine is a Tempur-LUXEbreeze and my wife's a Intellibed Nightfall. Our needs are completely different, but even with two different brands of beds I sure the hell can cuddle my wife!

That's is really awesome that you got that experience and we are very pleased that your experience has allowed that. I wish that all split combinations allowed for this, but mostly likely, either you or your sales professional took the time to guide you towards mattresses of similar thickness that still addressed both your needs.

Should also mention motion isolation with the split. That’s actually my reason for looking at them as a light sleeper and my partner moves a lot.

Get 2 fitted XL fitted sheets, 2 King pillowcases, and 1 oversized king flat sheet. (Like hotels use as as a bottom sheet by folding corners under) this size flat sheet provides more "hangover" on sides & foot of bed and stays tucked in longer. Very nice if your sleep partner "steals the covers"

I have had a split king for over 10 years and love it. I can’t imagine having only one control and not two. There is no way my wife and I would agree where the bed should be set (head, foot, vibrate), with two controls no problem.

Pro - You can choose different mattresses. Con - They may be different heights, although you can adjust the height some (increments of 3").
@sleepbargains
@sleepbargains 3 жыл бұрын
The first part is absolutely correct, while the second part of what you said is partially correct. Some, but VERY FEW mattress manufacturers allow you to customize thickness of a mattress. What they usually do is offer different versions of the same mattresses that come in different levels of softness and are often about 1-2 inches more and less thick respectively.
@markbennett1237
@markbennett1237 3 жыл бұрын
@@sleepbargains sorry, I should have been more clear. What I meant is that the bed frames can be raised or lowered to make the mattress tops level. A split king is made up of two separate adjustable bed frames, and the feet have 3” segments that can be added/removed to adjust the height. At least on mine it’s like that. Lucky for me though, the two mattresses were exactly the same height.
@sleepbargains
@sleepbargains 3 жыл бұрын
@@markbennett1237 Ah, yes, some do in fact come like that, but that is not an industry standard. Some have solid legs, and others have 2' segments, while still others have a 4" segment and an 8" segment together. Other than that, you are correct. Just depends on the manufacturer.

@sleepbargains

If you have only the split mattresses, then yes, this absolutely an option and works amazingly for a lot of couples. Aside from different firmness preferences, one of the leading reasons to get a split king setup is to have different adjustable bases as well. One partner can be raised up while the other is more flat, or just in a different position entirely. In that scenario, a single fitted sheet, deep pocket or not, is less likely to work.

@sleepbargains
@sleepbargains 3 жыл бұрын
That is absolutely a pro! The challenge and the danger associated with it is the thickness of the mattresses. Softer mattresses tend to be more thick, while more firm mattresses tend to be less thick. If a thickness gap of more than 1-2 inches is created by vastly different partner preferences, it can cause a detriment to quality of sleep.

Visually you do not notice the crack when the bed is made. I live alone so I haven't come across a problem yet to move from side to side. I love not having to change the whole fitted sheet when I've only slept on 1 side. Having the option to change the used side is genius! Or sleep on different side every few day. Then change both simultaneously

Can the split frame be adjusted to add a connector bar so that it will work with a single king mattress? If so, will one remote work for both sides?
@jeremyjoe714
@jeremyjoe714 2 жыл бұрын
Most split king adjustable bases come with a synchronizing cord that runs between the two control that’ll let one remote work for both sides at the same time. That’s really only needed if you have a solid king mattress.

You left out SO much valuable information that would have made this video much more informative and worthwhile. And it would have only taken a couple of minutes longer to list these additional concerns. Hopefully people will read the comments to get the information that should have been provided in the video.

How do change the sheets without doing contortions or can you lift the beds apart easily to tuck the sheets in?
@lianamarch
@lianamarch 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. Raise the head of only one side & the feet, then do the same to the other twin xl. You will also need fitted sheets with elastic that fits under the corners of the bed. I have been able to find those sold separately, if you didn’t purchase sheets for adjustable beds. They have snaps like garter belts have to hold thigh highs up. Hope this helps!

I honestly don't find a huge difference in making the bed than I would my queen/ king size mattress and i keep both flat. I do 1 from each side of the bed.Just a little bit of contortion here and there. Your best bet though is to choose quality sheet that has that Elastic around the entire circumference it's. It helps to get it quickly snug and it stays in place. I see a huge difference between my Walmart n garnett hill fitted

Perhaps, when set up, they were synced by accident? This is most often done with a cable connection between the two separate bases. I would suggest contacting where you purchased the bases and ask them if they know how the bases talk to each other, or how to stop them from talking to each other.

whether you are talking about split king or split queen (much more rare), the length is 80". A split king is made up of 2 TwinXLs laid side-by-side. A split California King would be 4 inches narrower (2 inches on each half of the split) and 4 inches longer, thus 84" long.

@K. S. I'm about to have my mor adjustable split king bed delivered today and im excited. My husband sores SO BAD and has sleep apnea so i have to keep waking him up to breathe and he cant use two pillows cause it hurts his neck so we decided to get this. I love laying flat but my husband has to sleep elevated so we decided to get split. I also tried out their zero g mode and it did make me feel comfortable considering that im a side curled up in a ball and stomach sleeper so i can't wait to try that out for a real nights sleep. Zero g is supposed to help blood circulation and breathe better while laying on your back but in a cradle position if that makes sense. We ended up getting mors 10 inch bed, softer than their 12 inch which is firmer and we got the highest model they had bcuz my husband wanted the massage feature in it... so it ended up costing us in the $3,000's BUT it does ALL the same stuff that temperpidic beds and similar brands beds do for WAAAYYY cheaper cause when you look at the other brands, for everything we got in our mor bed, in a temperpidic for example, was already costing in the double digit thousand pricing.... so 3,000$ vs 17,000$ for the same features??! Yeah mor was the choice.

Wow, thanks for the obvious :) I found the comments more useful - the fact that you can have two different firmness preferences - that’s a good question to ask. Also - what about sagging? I imagine with a split system, sagging won’t be much of a problem?
@sleepbargains
@sleepbargains 3 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry you felt like we only pointed out the obvious things. Our attempt was at addressing the questions we get in store the most often. Perhaps, you just happen to have done more research or analysis than the average person? You can have 2 different firmness preferences, but the danger is that softer mattresses tend to be more thick and more firm mattresses tend to be less thick. The challenge in this is finding something that works for each partner without creating too much of thickness gap. Generally you would want to be no more than 1-2 inches apart in thickness. sagging would have the exact same variables a one-piece mattress would: quality of materials used, weight of the user, proper rotations performed, etc. More firm mattresses tend to sag slower, but it is noticed more when they do. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
