Okay guys, I've been having this ridiculous theory in my head, but I just had to let this out. Think about it, if Dedede already knows about Nightmare while no one else in Dreamland doesn't, it makes me think that Dedede used to study about the mysteries of the unknown. For his gluttonous and selfish attitude, it could be the result of where he got to the point where he realizes what is REALLY going on, and now has gotten traumatized by unknown and unfathomable threats that are yet coming to Popstar soon.... Since then, Dedede became too horrified of what he has discovered. Wanting to forget this unfathomable nonsense, He tries to fade his fears by eating food, even if it means having ALL the food across Dreamland. This has caused him to changed into a more selfish and greedy figure, being blinded to no longer see what he is becoming. But during his greedy experience, Dedede was somehow snapped out of his behavior, and now has noticed what he has became, and realizes that he's no longer worthy and capable of fighting back against the unknown threats because of his "gluttonous curse". But now there's an another being that is worthy enough to defend Popstar, which turns out to be the pink fluff known as "Kirby" that defeated him. Knowing that Kirby can be the "protagonist" of Popstar, he *pretends* to be a "antagonist" to Kirby so he can toughen him up to prepare him if the unknown threats that Dedede has discovered will soon arrive to Popstar. King Dedede may be the greedy self-proclaimed king that everyone knows, but somewhere inside of him, underneath his layers of gluttony and selfishness, is a pure-hearted friend who is slowly resurfacing, and relying on Kirby to defend and save not only Popstar, but the entire universe as well.

@@matthememelord7829 simple: just because they are friends does not mean they arent rivals. even as late as kirby fighters 2 he still does have a rivalry with kirby. it just takes a backseat due to much bigger threats at play. could even be as simple as having masked dedede appear as an exclusive opponent in the arena mode of a future game. or maybe dedede fights off his possession and decides to have a grudge match anyway for old times sake before teaming up with kirby to take on the villain. theres an infinite number of ways this can be done.

Out of all of the Dedede battles, I'd say the Dededestroyer Z has to be the hardest that I've fought. It has a lot of hp, the rival Kirbys are a pain and are NEEDED to defeat the boss! Also, Dedede can literally block the rivals sent into the cannon.
