King Boo definitely has that thing to him that always makes him different than other bosses. He uses all kinds of illusions to confuse and trick you, and always seems a lot more serious than other bosses, and just has that creepy smile all the time. Kinda reminds me of the joker actually.

You know, King Boo never really struck me as malevolent. Sure, he's the main antagonist of the Luigi's mansion games, but he has some pretty acceptable reasons for being unhappy with Mario, Luigi, and the professor. Mario and Luigi caused all of those problems to the Boos in the ghost houses, and the professor was capturing ghosts (including Boolosus, who were King Boo's subjects) and turning them into paintings! Wouldn't you want some revenge if someone was turning your race into paintings? Then, I feel like just about every additional appearance can be justified by "wouldn't you be mad if someone sealed you into a painting forever?" Except for Mario Party, because it's all just in good fun. And boos are all about fun.

To answer your question, no, because I desire justice, not revenge . . . but putting aside moral standards that the common populace seems as above and beyond what is necessary to be \decent/, King Boo is still actively malevolent, canonically so. It's not like the boos were just decent folks that were minding their own business when the Mario bros came through their castles and wrecked things. They were malicious creatures that were known to cause trouble and were aggressive, albeit poorly so, to the Mario bros at first sight as they are to all creatures. King Boo is essentially the mob boss to the disorganized gang that is the boo race. He may have his reasons for things that make some sense, but he is, without a doubt, evil at heart.

As a kid I never understood why Luigi went into this mansion or tried to fight King Boo or any of the ghosts. He seemed very scared and timid, like if he's shaking why does he fight? And now that I'm older I understand the reasoning. Luigi may be scared and shivering, but he'll still trey and fight, because despite his fear, he's willing to go that far to save his brother.

I have this theory. The King Boo in Luigi's mansion is the real King Boo, same with the King Boo in Dark Moon. When King Boo was trapped in a painting in the first Luigi's mansion, The next most powerful Boo gained a less epic crown and became the king. Then, every time we saw a King Boo with the lame crown, that was the next most powerful Boo taking the last king's place. In Dark Moon, the real King Boo came back from the painting and destroyed the system for the time being. Then he was defeated again and the system was put back in place. And it has been going on since then. That's why we get A different King Boo for Luigi's Mansion And Dark Moon then the other Games. That took me an entire 5 Crystal ball sessions to figure out, and rhyming will have to be postponed for right now. ~Merlee

Separate theory... The true king boo is the one with a big gem on its head. After it got stolen by Luigi, he got one from the dark moon but went back for the rest out of greed. The king boo in the Mario and Luigi series is also a separate King The king boo in sunshine is also not the same king boo from luigi's mansion The King boo in the sport games and others is a separate King. The boo in Mario 64 is just a Big Boo with a stolen crown. The King boo in super princess peach is also a separate king boo.

my theory about King Boo is that the King Boo from Luigi's Mansion is the TRUE King Boo. He is spiritually stronger then the other King Boo. he was able to capture Mario not once but twice, he lead his army to make a mansion and control the Evershade Valley. the other King Boo is probably a weaker cousin of the King and doesn't have the ability to control the Boos, the one from Sunshine is most likely a painting come to life

Okay, the first part of your theory is the basic plot of Luigi's Mansion. But I disagree with the animatronic Bowser part since king boo can just make one by illusion,Egad would never release the boos, and why would King Boo make so many crowns? My theory is that there are multiple King Boos from different areas. There's the one which is in many Mario party, sport games, etc. There's the one in Super princess peach.The Mario sunshine one. The Mario&Luigi series one. All separate. King Boo got out of the Painting during the events of Dark Moon because he was sold away. My old theory was just like yours except that it changed because I questioned why King Boo wasn't trying to kill Luigi during Mario Party. Yeah, the Mario wiki is correct on saying that his appearance has changed, But it doesn't mean they can't be separate characters.(Mario Wiki is also not credible since it's made by normal people like ourselves) During the end of dark moon, at 13:58 he says that he was trapped for a eternity in a painting. It couldn't be a eternity if he got out before the events of Dark Moon. Another thing, in the smash bros.(brawl)trophy of a Boo it says the boo have gotten accustomed the light and played some sports or something like that. During Dark Moon, they can't be fazed by the normal or charged light of the flashlight since they got used to the light. King Boo however is easily blinded from normal flashlight light which points out that he never got used to light. BUT during Mario kart, the king boo there was perfectly ok with the sunlight, not shying away. Meaning that they can't be the same King...so yeah

I feel bad for King Boo. His kingdom is constantly harassed, and for no reason. He can feel pain, even though he's a ghost. And he has to live with that forever. He tries to stay positive, but there's always someone to ruin it. He just wants a safe and happy environment for his subjects, but they don't get the chance. Dont't confuse Big boo and king boo. here is comparison of king boo and big boo: king boo: he is king of all boos. he has crown and sometimes he is bigger. first appearance was Luigi's mansion Big boo: They are bigger boos that have some health and you can attack them if they are visible (is you are not looking at them like throwing block up when you are not looking at him, or making back flip and ground pound). first appearance was Super Mario World.
