This was exactly the detail and "how-to" that I needed to see so that I can clean our fridge. Thank you so much.I think I can do this now.

Nicely done. My Whirlpool side-by-side seems to have been designed specifically to make coil cleaning as difficult as possible. These brushes will make it a bit easier. Thanks.

The underside of the fridge literally acts like a magnet for cat and dog fur. I looked at so many videos and everyone was different. This is the best and easiest one. BTW, I just did mine yesterday and will never let it go again. When the motor started running non-stop I knew something was wrong. Works well again. I wish manufacturers would sell or give an inexpensive cleaning kit when someone purchases a fridge because most people don't even know to do this until they run into trouble.

'I wish manufacturers would sell or give an inexpensive cleaning kit when someone purchases a fridge because most people don't even know to do this until they run into trouble.' Oh no they wouldn't want this, they want it to break so you either buy another one or spend a fortune buying parts to fix it. I would say 95% of people dont even realise they have to clean the coils and it never gets done and they are surprised the fridge fails quickly.

Thanks for the video… Mine is running non stop and the freezer is frosting up. Hopefully this will fix it. I looked at the coils and they are horrendous…😂 Thankfully my mother in law just moved out… She had the freezer and the refrigerator packed full of crap. I read that can cause a problem as well, without proper circulation. I got the inside cleaned out good the other day. Now I just gotta clean the coils and cross my fingers…😅

Just a note - that skinny crevice tool is from the auto detailing package that was part of a special at Home Depot on a Ridgid shop vac. If your vacuum doesn't have one, you can get about 3 ft of 5/8 or 1/2 clear vinyl hose and squish one end into your short crevice tool.

There are more than 2 styles of coils. You missed the most difficult ones to clean, the V-shaped bastards at the bottom of my Whirlpool. Impossible to access with a brush.

Our coils here are AGAINST the flow of pushing a brush literally walled with no left or right accessibility. Very convenient. Hoping to just unscrew them out I suppose. Great thorough video 👍🏻

My Amana has a cage around the coils so a brush not a vacuum nozzle cannot be inserted between them. I used an electric leaf blower on the lowest setting---it worked extremely well, but is very messy. I then cleaned up the dust in the kitchen. Had the refrigerator coils been designed better they could be cleaned with a brush & a vacuum cleaner. Seems to have been designed to make it very difficult to clean. the manual instructs a 3 month cleaning but no pictures or any details as to how to clean it. Most folks would be clueless.

My front toe kick door on my 1996 vintage Hotpoint fridge is IMPOSSIBLE to remove as it is permanently bolted on with no screwdriver slots. The one time I cleaned it, I had to tilt it. This is ridiculous! So how do I clean the coils without risking serious injury? Addendum: after seeing you clean out your coils with that long crevice tool, you’ve just given me an incentive to order a replacement brush roll for my “Dumpster Emporium”shark navigator vacuum, which is my only vacuum (in my collection of vacuums) that has a long crevice tool.

Soooo...The coils spanning from Top to Bottom of fridge: Do you Unscrew, and then Remove Those/It? Or just clean as well as possible with them attached? (Style 2)
@paullogieri248
@paullogieri248 3 жыл бұрын
You have to clean those in place, and in very gentle, patient manner. The hot refrigerant flows through those coils and simply loosening the coils could cause a refrigerant leak.

My 5 year old Kenmore has the coils running opposite direction from yours and designed so one can not get a brush in from front or back. The only way to get to them is tip the huge fridge 45 degrees on its side. What a horrible design.
