The boulders are a clear indicator of why there is gold there. Glaciers dropped gold bearing Canadian rock in NY. It wasn’t originally formed there.

Hi Jerry, Thanks for sharing your videos. For some fun my cousin and I decided to try and pan a creek in Northern NJ.. To my surprise we found a few pieces of flour gold. Well we decided to make a hobby out of it.. In with the 50 fold-able sluice and blue bowl.. I am amazed that we find anything but we do.. Its more fun than anything. but I love when people tell me there is no gold in NJ and I keep finding it.. LOL

As of March 2012, the state of New York still holds sole title over any precious metals discovered within its boundaries, which of course include the Upper Tier.

During trout season my husband and I fished Elk Creek near Erie, pa. To my surprise I found a lot of black sand on the stream banks. Found garnet sand too! Never paid close enough attention to notice before I suppose. My mother and I explored Chautauqua Gorge near Jamestown NY last week. Lots of black sand! Also garnets. Found one garnet about 4mm in size. Just FYI to viewers near Erie Pa, there may be some gold to be found.

@4:00 i bet if you rolled that rock over and check the sand under it there would be gold lol

Any gold discovered in NY state is property of NY state and can not be kept legally. Even claim holders and landowners are not entitled to keep any precious metals that they find, if you find a nugget under your front porch, it doesn’t belong to you.

I have spent a lot of time in your "secret spot" hiking around. Always wondered if there was any gold there because of the rock from Canada. Found a pretty garnet once in a very thin schist layer. Never could find that layer again. Sure is pretty down there.

@nynut5187 жыл бұрын
looked like about 40 or 50 bucks worth
@wraith01277 жыл бұрын
you are joking, right? 1 gram is only worth about $40 if it's 24k pure. Placer gold is almost never 24k, more like 18k-20k which is only worth about $30. That amount of gold looks to be closer to 10-20 MILLIGRAMS. So try about $0.40-$0.75 worth in that pan. Yeah, cents.

yeah i was joking ,,, gold in ny and Vermont is 23 k for the most part

"Although gold certainly does exist within New York, the state itself has an unusual law in place that reads that all gold and silver found within New York are property of the state. Unlike other states that allow private landowners and claim holders to mine on profitable mineral deposits, this silly law prevents that. Obviously, this has completely dampened any interest in any serious mining operations within New York, as the prospector would technically have no rights to the mineral. This is the case regardless of whether the discovery is made within a public forest, or on private property in your own back yard." -- COVER YOUR TRACKS!! This law needs to change too!!

While I do have interest in the spot... I've got an easier way to go about things for old guys like us. An easier way to process. You're missing a lot is all I'll say! I also have a way to locate the better spots :) Trout fishing for 25 yrs:) I've been researching placial gold (I mean we're looking for lead shot, mercury and garnets Sir), for about 10 years now. The question now becomes can I be trusted and can I trust you guys? What I'd show you couldn't be posted...
