(Larry San Diego) I was going to leave a comment on your most recent video discussing the importance of exercise and active movements while in ADT Therapy> As a former 101st Airborne Paratrooper and Vietnam Combat Veteran I have always been active and committed to a weight training, resistance training, and stretching program even at age 76 soon to be 77, I started going back to the gym vs the last three years since Covid (working out a home) 3/5 times a week. I started my hormone therapy four weeks ago and have taken your advice to perform three sets of weight machine exercises at my 24 Hour Fitness Center. since then I have been able to maintain my level of strength and endurance and do so to "muscle fatigue" as i increase the weight as each rep progresses. The only side effects i have experienced so far are occasional and not lasting hot flashes. Thanks for the great video and advice,

Only side effect was hot flashes???? I find that difficult to believe. . Castrate your pet dog, and see how much libido he has left. ZERO And that is the exact same effect on us men when ADT CASTRATION drops our testosterone levels below castrate level. The list of quality of life destroying and life threatening side effects is long. ..You sound like a big pharma salesman

(Larry San Diego) I really appreciate your quick response to my question. To clarify my total body weight program ranges from 20 to 30 minutes doing one set of the program and your advice is to add an additional set which is no problem at all. I plan on seeing a nutritionist as well but if there any site on KZbin or elsewhere to recommend, Thanks

(Larry San Diego) based on a rising PSA and recent PSMA scan my oncologist will be recommending ADT therapy. I am a former Army Paratrooper and have been physically active using resistance bands, cardio exercises at least four times as well as stretching in the AM/PM. MY weight program is for 20/30 minutes (full body) but only do one set of the specific program during each session. Would you recommend any modifications to my weekly program and will take your suggestion to talk with a nutritionists as well. Thanks

This sounds like very good exercise plan you have. If your doctor has not told you to limit exercise ie: an injury, heart issues or issues related to the cancer, then you should be fine continuing with your routine. Make sure that your routine targets the major muscles of your body. Also, consider adding in an additional set to your routine. As testosterone will be depleted from the ADT therapy, maintaining regular strength training and exercise will be key in maintaining muscle mass and managing some of the side effects from the treatment.

I’m about to start ADT. I currently work out four days a week. I’m around 12% on my body fat. My workouts consist of resistance training. Do I continued with my current routine? I’m 54 in great and it’s pisses me off that a drug is going take away all my hard work. What do you suggest when comes to protein supplementation?

You should be able to continue with your current routine unless told by a medical professional to stop. You want to do what you can to maintain your lean muscle mass, and resistance training will help with that. For protein intake, I would suggest speaking with a dietitian or your doctor. They can have a look at what your currently eating, and recommend whether you should increase the consumption or keep it the same.

I did not go to Rosewell Park Cancer Hospital. The oncologist was incompetent and unethical.
